I always went to Hair Mechanix. It's nice to have a beer while getting your hair cut. Plus, if you sweet talk the lady doing it, she'll give you an extra long head massage when they shampoo you.

After watching the girl who cut my hair use only clippers, I decided I was wasting money paying for haircuts. I bought my own clippers and did short on the sides, longer on top. All you need is good clippers and self confidence, unless you're into frosted tips or something. The girl lived in the apartment across from me and she thought I was going somewhere else.

Monty used to cut my hair in the late 90's. I can't remember his name but there was always an older gentleman there that was the first ISU all American basketball player or something. Monty sent him to the storage room to get something once and after he didn't return for a while, Monty got worried. He went to check on him and came back laughing. The guy yelled at Monty for his storage room being a mess.

Another time, a young woman popped in to ask Monty, (in front of the four guys waiting for haircuts), if he did perms and styling.

Isn't he the guy that would hand out pamphlets that told you how healthy it was to drink a ton of water every day....?

Sounds about right. He had all kinds of crazy ideas. He was also a big Ron Paul fan if I remember correctly. I've seriously considered driving up to Ames for a hair cut just so I could listen to Ray talk. The hair cut was just average but his stories were ridiculous.

What a arrogant comment. You don't know what kind of haircut I get. Yea, if I just shaved my head it would be easy, but I get a haircut that works for me. I never said half of the **** you said I did. It doesn't work for me, if it works for you great. I am correct and I'm not going to say I'm not when clearly a DIY haircut doesn't work for me. Way to try to start **** for no reason. Pathetic.

Does that make sense cloneswereall? Is that clear? Understand?

I don't think I ever attributed you to saying anything other than the only haircut that is easy to do yourself is a straight buzz cut. I was just pointing out that that isn't true. I don't understand how you're taking this as a personal attack.

But by all means, continue to get upset and send off lovely PMS.

I decided to give Troy a try since I liked Monty when I was here years ago. I won't go back. Don't want to go into details, but its a thumbs down for me and my experience. I'll probably check out Tommy next time around because they back CF.

Would you be willing to PM with the details? I was thinking about going there today just to get a basic trim but not you got me all nervous.

I would love to see some pictures of all the do-it-yourselfers on CF. You don't even need to include your face, just shoot a pic of your hair and post, since it's so easy....

Hahaha same here. And wasn't that the barber that would call everyone "big guy"?

I really wish Des Moines or Ames could get one of these...Greatest hair cut and experience I've had. Whenever I'm in Springfield visiting my parents I always make sure to hit this place up.
