I don't begrudge Hamilton for leaving at all. In fact, it was his departure that signaled to me as a fan, "something is WRONG here." The only thing McD could coach competently was big men playing in the post, so when the Ham left, I knew there was nothing left to gain from the McDermott era. Thankfully we were freed from him shortly thereafter.

Yeah... when he went you knew this program was just a disaster. His dad had some pretty choice words about McD as well iirc.

I'll agree with whoever said they wont begrudge most of the players that left, something was clearly wrong and they got out. Two exceptions however would be Lucca and Colvin. Colvin seems like he wouldve had issues here no matter who the coach was (and his suspension this year at ASU indicates not much has changed), and Lucca, no matter how bad things were, should have stuck it out for the full season before leaving.

Even though the closer to home comment sounds bad now and ISU fans make fun of it, I think it was a pretty noble thing to say. Anything else he could have said would have incriminated McD's program here. I thought it was nice as hell that he made up an excuse to not make McD look so bad.

If he stayed, would we even have RW?

Even better question: If he stayed would we still have McDermott here?

Last year's team would have clearly been better (not sure how much) and maybe they win enough to show progress and McDermott isn't as much on the hot seat and doesn't bolt to Creighton.

Scary, scary thought. Thank you Hambone.

He is top scorer/top dog at LSU.

yeah, but he had a terrible game against Kentucky last weekened. Shot 1 for 10 or 1 for 12. That was a game LSU was ahead in for a long time and was in the entire game. If Ham would have scored his normal points, they might have won.

Very true. I try to take the optimistic line on almost everything, but that was really the last straw for me too.

Overall, I can't blame Hammy for transferring from Gmac. That seemed to be the norm.

Anyway, if he wouldn't have left, we probably wouldn't have our entire team right now. Likely at least one of the transfers wouldn't be here, so I'm ok with the swap.

Hamilton is a decent player on a decent team. It's like Aaron White on Iowa. He gets points and rebounds because someone has to get them. White is good for Iowa but would he even see the floor for someone like Michigan State or Ohio State? No. Hamilton is the same. Decent player, Decent team.

Addition by subtraction when you take into account his horrifying facial hair.

Hamilton would be really good next to White because he can catch the ball and is usually in the right spot.

That article someone posted about UCLA and their mess ups really opened my eyes. No way I can rip on players transferring anymore for the most part. We know so very little of what is truly happening and the true reasons as to why they are transferring.

I honestly feel that all players that transferred from the McDermott era should be free from ridicule. Having to put up with his incompetence should be reason enough to leave.

agree. He couldn't coach at the big time conference level, period.

Now, never mention his name again.
