TJ has haters?

The guy has flipping killed it
Oh man.. Don't read a game thread on a game we lost. And don't go through the game threads at a point where we were ever down. It's unbelievable how many people live and die over every shot, play, snap, win, loss, etc. It has to be mentally draining.

What?

Edited to add : In 2021 we lost one game at home, to Iowa. We scored 194 points to our opponent's 86. How could that not have been a fun year (at home)?
It was fun. I was contrasting those BB years to the last couple of years of football, since that’s what this thread is about. The last couple years of football haven’t been much fun to watch.

I’m just trying to understand though, last year, was not fun. That’s a given. But 2021 football was undoubtedly fun for home games outside of the Iowa one.

JFC this is going on in every single program in America.
I suppose you have some proof for that assertion. Starting QB and starting RB are illegal underage betting in every single program in the country? Seems unlikely. In any case, it doesn't really matter. Coaching staff repeatedly told them not to do it, and they repeatedly did it.

I'd say this post and the one that was responded to are both true. Campbell deserves more time but if we see the same ******** offensive philosophy and clock management something's going to have to give.

Can't have your head in the sand forever.
Dare I say, if Iowa State keeps the same offensive philosophy and clock management but gets back to the level of success that Campbell maintained prior to last season, I'll "keep my head in the sand" (to use your words) for quite a while as long as that's the case. If it doesn't lead back to that level of success, it'll be a different story.

I voted yes just because 1-6 vs Iowa is unacceptable. There is no excuse for it, Iowa is not that good of a team.

I'm not ready to jump on the "fire Campbell" bandwagon. But it is frustrating to see the same mistakes over and over. I thought the offensive play calling would be better this year and it's not. This offense does NOT work, yet here it is again this year. Watch other college football teams and most of them have creativity in their play calling. We have none. Not even a simple jet sweep, no QB runs, no play action, etc.

Not really sure what else to say, but something is different about Campbell now. I don't know what it is.
It is almost as though we think wins and team performance matters but there are other aspects that truly matter that only he knows about?

I am just observing now, it is quite interesting,

Sorry, I misread your previous comment to be about BB. When I said the past couple years I meant last year and this one, so far. There just doesn’t seem to be much energy on offense.

Ah no you’re good! I personally think it’s too early to throw in the towel on this offense. I think last week we played a very good defense who’ve made better offenses look worse than ours did. I think there will be some fun times ahead with this team as the season progresses.

Didn't he turn over a good portion of the coaching staff?

That seems to be learning from mistakes
Well, I figured maybe, with the hire of the New OC, yet here we are, running the exact same offense we did last year.

I gave credit where credit was due for the ST and OL, so hopefully we have turned the corner.

Remember when we beat Oklahoma on the road, went on a little streak, and it just seemed like a forgone conclusion that we’d beat #5 (?) ranked TCU at home…. And we did?

I feel the exact opposite of that right now for the Ohio game.

I don’t know why. Logically, nothing overly surprised or disappointed me about the Iowa game. Especially considering our historical performance against them.

I just know that this week is extremely important.

I don't think the gambling thing is overblown at all. On a team that stresses culture and character, starters at the two highest profile positions on the team weren't "bought in" to the character-culture mindset (along with other starters). In fact, they were pretty much the opposite of "bought-in". These starters are supposed to be the leaders. And it wasn't just a couple of bets here and there, we are talking about hundreds of bets, and bets made on ISU FB games in which they played. It was certainly stupid, but it was also an oft-repeated blatant disregard for clearly defined rules and the authority of the coaches.

This gambling was going on during the 2021 season, when ISU seriously under-performed with the returning uber-experienced team that won the Fiesta bowl the previous year, and the gambling was going on during the 2022 debacle.

I just hope whatever was going on is purged from the program. Something was not right.
To suggest guys using FanDuel and DraftKings to place small bets aren't bought in to the program is a big stretch.

The amounts and how many weren't earth shattering either. They averaged out to small amounts per bet and nobody dropped like 20K. And then there's the NIL factor too.

Dekkers placed like an "Over" ISU bet when he wasn't even playing. And there is absolutely zero evidence of anyone tanking/fixing a game.

You're making a huge leap here to suggest something nefarious the last 2 seasons like fixing games, etc.

Again, players were stupid to take the risk knowing their eligibility would be at stake potentially. But AFAIK all were in good standing in the classroom, on the practice field, and with their teammates and coaches. To me that shows a player is "bought in".

Players are also not supposed to drink underage. Do you want to kick all the players off the team who imbibe? How about the tokers?

Is it really realistic to expect any young person, athlete or otherwise, to not make any mistakes or do something stupid?

And really, how do we know there wasn't betting going on during the Fiesta Bowl season? There probably was but it wasn't being investigated yet.

I'd imagine this kind of stuff is going on all over college athletics. Other states just haven't investigated it like the DCI in Iowa.

I hope you’re right! And in all fairness, they’ve pulled it out after slow starts before.

This isn’t a one game or one season thread. Sorry.
So you want CMC fired? And then what? We are not Texas or Alabama. We develop 3-4 stars and play "in the margins" CMC isn't a razzle dazzle change his strategy kind of guy. We all know what we are going to get. Season isn't finished let's see where we go.

You have a QB in his second start ever. People need to lighten up a bit. Start with WRs catching balls that hit their hands! I thought the OL generally held up pretty good.

We made the Big 12 title game the year we went 9-3 though and if we want to get technical, we played two less games than we should have. We should not have lost to Louisiana, but there were literally no one in the stands that game so saying "at home" is a bit disingenuous. Not to mention Louisiana was the best G5 team that year outside of Cincy.

Purdy's QB arch was going to be hard to improve on considering he was insane his first two years. His third year, he led his team to the Big 12 title and his last year he still had a good year. Brock was flat out unbelievable.
We lost to a G5 at home due to bad play. Louisiana wasn’t good. Had we played Iowa or had the entire nation play a full schedule we don’t even make a G5.

Lmao at that Brock fantasy. He was good, for a freshman, then arguably regressed. That’s a stain on the staff.

Louisiana was good. We shouldn’t have lost to them but that doesn’t mean they were a bad team. Also Brock’s second year he threw for 4000 yards and 27 TDs and broke numerous records. Stop gaslighting
