Heck of an effort they gave in one of the hardest places to get a W. They hit some hard shots with guys in their face. They are gonna give any Big 12 teams a good battle.

Foster and Williams hit some insane just inside the 3 point jumpers. The game reminded me a lot of the grind game in the big 12 tourny last year with them. I would say they are even better this year. Too bad they went on that skid early

Played a heck of a game. Hope they can beat KU. Honestly this game tougher to watch than the KU game on Saturday. I think KSU played more competitively with us than KU did.

Forgot to mention that they completely took away our transition game. Their coach was constantly yelling at them to get back.

Transition D is like 90% effort & discipline. If a team has any talent at all, it just requires sprinting back, and doing your assignment every time. All teams in this conference have the ability to stop transition offense, it's just a matter of doing it.

That's also why Iowa St has to try to run every time, because you can't score every time, but you hope you can catch the other team napping a few times.

Hell of an effort, really impressed with them tonight. I hope they can win enough games to get in the tourney and those early season stumbles don't kill them. 9-9 in conference should do it I think for them.

I thought Weber coached a hell of a game tonight, over his career I haven't been that impressed but every time we play them it is a dog fight.

Agree that K-state played us better than KU. K-state gave us their best shot tonight and executed at a high level. It helps when you are hitting tough shots. I think that's why their players and coach seemed so down in their post-game press conference. It's tough knowing you gave your best effort and still got beat. They had some guys just worn out at the end from playing too many minutes, but K-State's game tonight would have beat a lot of teams. Oklahoma was no fluke and it looks like their early struggles were more a result of injuries/chemistry.

ISU just had too many weapons on offense. Maybe we weren't crisp on closeouts, but it wasn't that bad. I don't think ISU had a realistic shot at winning the conference without adding McKay.. Does anyone else want Matt Thomas to go off in one of these games?

Weber built a heck of program at Southern Illinois. He can coach. He can identify talent and put a team together.
The question is can he manage a lockerroom of talented Big 12 players imo. He has some GMac in him. Disappointingly, he has regained the focus of his team.

Weber always looks ****** when he loses. He almost sprints off the court with barely a hand shake or eye contact with the other team.

They are a well disciplined team at this point, big difference from KU.

This.

KU has much more talent, but very little discipline, particularly on defense. And their offense had no flow, either, with lots of guys just standing around. It was getting to Coach Self a little bit on Saturday night. I was actually more worried at halftime last night than I was on Saturday.

They have the ability to make some noise, and could contend for 3rd/4th (which is very good in this league), but I think they brought their "A" game and hit quite a few shots that you normally would like to see them shoot. I came out of the game more impressed than I had been, but they are going to need to prove that they can play at a top level night in and night out.

Well, I assume OU, Baylor and ISU are top level, no?

The game went as I thought it might. If K-State didn't let ISU run off the first 5 minutes of either half, it would be a dogfight to the end. That's what happened. No transition points. Good defense. Make some shots.

And I saw nothing about shooting that was abnormally good for the Cats. Not sure why, other than cardinal kool here, that people think Cats shot out of their minds. Actually, they missed some bunnies that cost them the game.

In the end, Foster and Gipson simply ran out of gas. Nino too, probably. ISU has more talent - dominated boards. The home court is always worth some points. ISU held serve, as expected. Round robin is great.
