Well, I assume OU, Baylor and ISU are top level, no?

The game went as I thought it might. If K-State didn't let ISU run off the first 5 minutes of either half, it would be a dogfight to the end. That's what happened. No transition points. Good defense. Make some shots.

And I saw nothing about shooting that was abnormally good for the Cats. Not sure why, other than cardinal kool here, that people think Cats shot out of their minds. Actually, they missed some bunnies that cost them the game.

In the end, Foster and Gipson simply ran out of gas. Nino too, probably. ISU has more talent - dominated boards. The home court is always worth some points. ISU held serve, as expected. Round robin is great.

I think surly sounds a little surly this morning.

Hell of an effort, really impressed with them tonight. I hope they can win enough games to get in the tourney and those early season stumbles don't kill them. 9-9 in conference should do it I think for them.

I thought Weber coached a hell of a game tonight, over his career I haven't been that impressed but every time we play them it is a dog fight.

With their 7-6 non-con record, 9-9 in conference would make them 16-15 overall...

I didn't like how their #11 got open underneath the basket for passes and rebounds. He got behind Morris several times. I liked it when Hoiberg put Hogue on him to keep him away from the basket.

KSU doesn't hit those long 2's at that high of a percentage. Overall ISU's defense leveled their shooting % out, but if they rely on hitting that many 15 footers they are going to lose a lot of games.

Honestly I think KSU has figured it out, they'll be a solid contender for the middle tier and probably end up 5th. Foster is good enough that he is the difference between them being non con KSU and a bubble team.

What was k states fg% on 15-20 footers? Seemed like about 70%. Foster is all but unguardable; if he goes off they'd be a very tough team to beat.

I agree. Unless K-State is planning on winning the Big 12 tournament, regular season records of 16-15/9-9 will not get them into the Big Dance. Probably would need at least 18-13/11-7, and then win at least one game in KC. I know that doesn't sound like a great record, but their SOS - and a few more quality wins - might be enough to get them in.

It's funny, a lot of people on this board really mock Bruce Weber, and several yesterday were predicting an ISU blowout victory. And yet, if you look at the actual results, the guy obviously is a good coach, he doesn't have the McDonalds AA's that Bill Self has and yet Weber's teams push our team just as much as KU.

KSU shot right at their season average for the game last night. But were well over it in the first half. ISU defense was much better in the second half, particularly the last 8 minutes.

Webers teams seem to be a more polished version of what Frank ran there .... I like his basketball, they are just missing a few things from being great. They could easily dance (play-in seems right), and they will fight with every game they have.

ISU wore K-State down, and they were gassed at the end. That resulted in a lot of missed shots and bunnies that earlier would have been scores. Cats really miss D.J. Johnson who would have been Gipson's backup. D.J. has a broken foot. The bench is just too short and inexperienced.

Heck of a ball game last night more exciting than the Kansas game IMO. The game at the little apple could be a doozy.

If Foster can hit fade away, off-balance, and contested shots like he did from 18+ feet like he did last night, he's going to be paid very well in the NBA

Your coach mentioned in presser after game, I think Foster played 39 minutes and Gipson an awful lot too. Got to be hard to have legs to shoot at that point and Nader improved our defense down the stretch as well.

Did they even miss from within a couple of feet inside the arch? They were unconscious. How do you beat a team that shoots the lights out like that? Glad it happened.

In my mind this was the key point in the game. K-state had a 4-pt lead and the ball. If Foster hits his 3-pointer, it would have been a big struggle for the good guys. He doesn't and McKay, BDJ, and Nader save our bacon.

Copied from ESPN.com:
7:09 Marcus Foster missed Three Point Jumper. KSU 65-61
7:09 65-61 Jameel McKay Defensive Rebound.
6:59 65-61 Abdel Nader missed Three Point Jumper.
6:59 65-61 Bryce Dejean-Jones Offensive Rebound.
6:54 65-63 Abdel Nader made Jumper. Assisted by Bryce Dejean-Jones.

Then from 4 minutes on, K-state is stuck on 69.

Did you happen to see Foster's two shots at OU? First he made an amazing runner to force OT. Then he hit a tightly contested 3 to win the game in OT.

I think Foster will definitely be paid very well in the NBA. Next year hopefully.

The big surprise for me last night was Williams. Haven't watched a ton of KSU this year but he is MUCH improved from last year. Maybe it is just that he is getting more minutes without Southwell?

Foster is an incredible talent but very cocky. That being said, I suspect opposing fans think the same of Naz and I love it from him. Definitely a bias on my part.
