I would submit there is enough information available to make the case that there is something to all this.
I’ve heard the case. I find it completely unconvincing.

No problem.I’ve heard the case. I find it completely unconvincing.
Yep, they sure would want to learn about us, at the very least. Personally I think if aliens came here they would likely be here to study us out of curiosity, and to help our species not destroy itself. That’s one reason I find the testimony from the decorated military officers who saw so much unexplained phenomena at the first nuclear tests to be particularly compelling.
Your thinking is solid.
However, what I see is there is no way we and the "Aliens" are the only "higher life forms" around. Aliens then being able to detect distant life, traverse the universe, and likely much more advanced will have been to multiple life-bearing planets.
Exposed then to life forms, they would begin to see how life in its many forms originates and evolves in the Cosmos. Their Science would classify, study, and know a lot about ALL life if this were the case. If so they would know a lot about us in general before they even got here. In that case, extraterrestrials would study us briefly, take what they want, and move on.
Yet, they hang around for what seems since all of history. What do they want then? There are some really curious aspects to how the UFO/alien thing has developed. Obviously, they could have conquered us long ago, and if indifferent to what goes on here, they could care less what we do to ourselves.
And still, there is plenty of stories of UFOs abducting people, interfering with nuclear systems, and telling people to stop destroying the planet! So they are invested, but why are they not directly pulling our asses out of the fire...or are they covertly!?
This is really hard to accept as even a remote possibility. Evidence is needed, but I am preparing myself that it is more than a possibility. When he pulls out a dead alien's body from his briefcase or any real evidence, I'll listen. Otherwise I think he's full of crap.
I was just about to post that this could almost look like some form of the Prime Directive. Then of course the question becomes what are the criteria we have to meet for them to openly engage with us.Prime Directive

Dolphins have had a relationship with extraterrestrials for centuries. There’s not much reason to deal with a warring lesser species like Homo sapiens.

We humans are destructive. I imagine if other non human intelligent life came too close, people would start shooting at it for absolutely no reason at all.the universe is so empty of life that I think we would probably be the first intelligent species that aliens would come across, I think they would want to get to know us ya know?
So you are saying that all those people who are shooting when someone knocks on the wrong door or turns onto the wrong driveway are just practicing for the alien invasion? We humans are destructive. I imagine if other non human intelligent life came too close, people would start shooting at it for absolutely no reason at all.
Aliens are probably watching us right now going to a blockbuster movie about the guy who invented the atomic bomb and are like "yeah no they can't be trusted with our technology, let's leave them on this planet"We humans are destructive. I imagine if other non human intelligent life came too close, people would start shooting at it for absolutely no reason at all.
Any intelligent lifeform capable of space travel across galaxies has powers and abilities beyond our comprehension. If they wanted to stop us from destroying the planet, they would have done it already, not just tell a few people to knock it off here and there. And still, there is plenty of stories of UFOs abducting people, interfering with nuclear systems, and telling people to stop destroying the planet! Our anthropomorphism of hypothetical alien life to fit our 20th century fairy tale Star Wars/Star Trek view of the universe is the part that I'm sure is bull crap. We are pursuing other means of detecting life elsewhere in the galaxy and beyond remotely, as we should be. This is the realistic science approach that interests me, not some gray alien hypnotic bigfoot nighttime mumbo jumbo.Any intelligent lifeform capable of space travel across galaxies has powers and abilities beyond our comprehension. If they wanted to stop us from destroying the planet, they would have done it already, not just tell a few people to knock it off here and there.
Heck, given my viewing of various documentaries such as Independence Day and War Of The Worlds, it’s more likely aliens are helping to manipulate our climate to make Earth more hospitable for them.
Do I think life exists on other planets? I do. The odds are too high in its favor, plus wasn’t it Carl Sagan who said “it’d be an awful waste of space” if we were the only intelligent life in the universe? Do I think any of those lifeforms have developed interstellar travel? That I’m less sure of. Would a lifeform capable of interstellar travel allow themselves to be caught on film or in a crash? That I’m much more skeptical about. About the only way that makes sense is if they don’t even consider humans on their range of sentience, making us their equivalent of pets, or ants … which 1) wouldn‘t turn out in our favor and 2) wouldn’t matter because there’s zero we could about it anyway.
Spoilers: it's always mirages of terrestrial lights.
Continuing this line of logic, I believe that intelligent life developing the capability to travel the Galaxy is also inevitable. Life seems inevitable given the vast size of the universe and the vast opportunities it would provides for life to arrive. Then the other factor at work is time. The universe is like 13 billion years old. That I'd a massive amount of time for a species to advance.Any intelligent lifeform capable of space travel across galaxies has powers and abilities beyond our comprehension. If they wanted to stop us from destroying the planet, they would have done it already, not just tell a few people to knock it off here and there.
