Have your season expectations changed with the 0-2 start?

A little. I had them at 8-4 going in. I still think seven wins is reasonable. On Saturday they went toe to toe with the best the conference is going to have to offer this season. They can be competitive in every game the rest of the way. Clean some stuff up, catch a few breaks...who knows?

Started at 7-5

SDSU W
Iowa L
OU L
Akron W
TCU L
OSU L
WVU W
TTU W
KU W
Baylor W
TX L
KSU W

Still think 7-5

Yeah, this was me too. It just depends on which ISU team shows up. I won't be surprised when we go 0-fer in that TCU,OSU,WVU stretch but could see them all being very close. Feeling more 6-6 now but that's by no means a complaint.

It's only week three and we're still not sure exactly how strong the rest of the conference is (except for Oklahoma). I would not be surprised if we win three of four over TCU, Ok State, Texas and West Virginia (pick your combination). Having us lose to Kingsbury and Tx Tech in Trice? Making us an underdog to Baylor in our house? You gotta be kidding me. Six conference wins plus IW + a bowl win still adds up to 8 wins.

Even the most optimistic Iowa State fan would still be surprised if we rattled 3/4 off against those teams. Three of those are on the road, too. Love the confidence though.

True, but they are gonna have to deal with Will Grier. Totally different skillset but the defense is going to face a tough challenge there.

Agreed. The running threat won't be as great so rushing 3 and dropping 8 won't hurt us from that aspect. Although Grier could have days to throw back there and find someone.

The season feels way worse than it needs to be because of the cancellation. We have already played the best team we will see and went toe to toe with them. Also probably played the best defense we will see on the road in our first game and probably coulda won it.

Its not like we have lost to a bunch of no names. Chill out people.

I'm just looking at our abilities on the road under Campbell. Now we have a defense with depth. Defense travels well. Texas O line looks to be ordinary and their defense is not what it was a year ago. TCU has negligble home field advantage. OSU is OSU (we went toe to toe with them in Stillwater two years ago). Like our chances against WV at home. We'll see.

Yes. I had us winning 7. Now I think we win 4.

Akron
Kansas
KState
UIW

Clueless. Losing to Baylor and Tech at home?

I thought we would beat Iowa and get to 8. Missing that SDSU game really hurt us against Iowa.

Have us at 7 now.

IW
Akron
KU
Tech
Baylor
KState
and an upset v WVU or OSU or UT

I had Iowa game as about 50-50, and probable loss vs. OU, with 7-5 finish, so my expectation is on-track so far. On paper, UIW would is a far more likely win than SDSU (which I had as a W anyway).

Beyond W-L, as far as "how the team looks" most flaws from the first two games can be helped by adjustments or experience (sometimes both). Had ISU lost both games convincingly, that would be different.
