Whining about the hiring process and the lack of prior coaching experience are excuses used by Hawk fans to disguise their fears that Fred Hoiberg is a brilliant hire by Jamie Pollard.

There must be a lot of Hawk fans on this board. I have seen lots of people having concerns about the coaching experience.

A funny thing to do is, if you're out hiking and your friend gets bitten by a poisonous snake, tell him you're going to go for help, then go about ten feet and pretend that *you* got bit by a snake. Then start an argument with him about who's going to go get help. A lot of guys will start crying. That's why it makes you feel good when you tell them it was just a joke.

I think it sounds like you have Hawk Paranoia. If you don't have some question in your mind about the lack of coaching experience, something is wrong.

With that said, I think the Hoiberg experiment could work.

The Hawk fans I know talk about Fred so much I've started telling them they must be worried to shut them up. They talk about Fred more than I do.

Fred will succeed because he is very smart, and has a great personality that will help with recruiting, he has years of experience dealing with management and most of all he knows how to get the most out of limited talent. Fred and Clyde Drexler are complete opposites in terms of experiences and ability, so that comparison is just invalid. All this experience as a head coach is being over blown. The last guys at Iowa and ISU had a lot of experience, and look how well that helped them.

That has been my experience as well. The question I ask is if you think it is such a bad decision shouldn't you be happy?

Thanks doctor Phil for that diagnosis.

I personally don't think McCaffrey is off to that great of start. He lost several of their best incoming recruits, as well as a few of their best returning players. And the best player he has signed is a player he had to steal from Sienna. ISU's recruits are at least excited about Hoiberg, and honoring their commitments.

Hawk fans don't care about basketball, didn't you see the ghost town that was Carver last year.

So if it means they're worried when they talk about us, what does that make us talking about them?

You know fellow Clone fans, with all due respect to the OP, post titles like this are one of the reasons why Hawk fans make fun of us for being obsessed with them.

Why must almost everything Cyclone become part of a big, grand ******* contest between us and the Hawks?

I think it is called a rival. Do you think Missouri doesn't talk about Kansas? Auburn about Alabama? Michigan about Ohio State?

Thanks for taking the fun out of a rivalry. This post was intended as a little levity. Thank God we have so many uptight ISU fans to take the fun out of life.

I understand that's it a rivalry. I just think it's a bit silly and a reach to start a thread on how jealous Hawk fans must be over our hire when basketball season is still seven months away now. Just seems like an odd thing to start a thread about IMO.

Maybe I don't take the rivalry as seriously as you do.
