Hawks - respect

I have a question for all the hawk fans pointing to how they "only" lost by 3. Does margin of victory matter or not? Iowa has crept by awful competition all season long long and all we ever heard was winning and losing is all that matters. Now that Iowa has finally played a team worth a crap and they lost, tell me, which one is it?

It's whichever one benefits or helps legitimize their argument at that particular time.

I know some will hate this. But if you watched that game last night you saw a total team effort and a group who bought in and absolutely left it all on the field. Those kids deserved to be in that game despite what many of us, including me, may have thought.

Hats off to those Hawkeye players and coaches. I'll dislike you again soon. But for today, respect.

I actually don't hate the team and coach like the Hayden Fry bred to hate squads. Their coach and players are not ***-hats.

I do hate their fans demeaning comments about my alma mater. When they get personal, I get personal.

Well according to many Iowa fans doesn't matter what u do all year only matters how u finish..i.e. Isu bball. So after they lose to Stanford everyone will realize that they were nothing more than a good top 10-15 team who played no one until the end..and lost.

Sad thing is this schedule next year isn't much diff. Play @penn st without their NFL QB..get home games with Mich, NW, Wisc, and Neb. Not to mention an even weaker non conf schedule than this year.

Respect what? They played a mid major level schedule and lost to the only team they played that had a pulse. Their whole season is a sham.

They finally played a decent team last night and lost. No way they're ranked where they are or in the Big 10 Championship if they played a decent schedule.

Not taking away from what they did...undefeated is undefeated in the regular season. Can't argue with that. But their "lack of respect" bull $hit is so annoying. They're not an elite program and their delusional fan base refuses to believe it. This year just makes it worse.

**** the hawks. They'd never wish for a season like they had for ISU. Their fans are obnoxious and take any chance they can get to insult the Cyclones. **** them and the ******* horse they rode in on.

I have respect for the team and coaches...as for the fans, they can **** a big one. They have been p*ssing and moaning about not being respected for winning? Kinda like when they n*t kick us when we beat them in our " superbowl" and claim they don't care about it.

This is the part I can't get through my head...how was that a total team effort? If I was the defense I would be ******! The offense put up less than 300 yards and 85 came on one play. They did not run a single play on the other side of the 50 in the second half! How is that a great effort by the offense? Now the defense played well but can you honestly tell me that Connor Cook was healthy? I didn't see him attempt a pass more than 15 yards down field. So how does this "great" defense allow a team with a banged up QB march down the field in 22 plays for a game winning touchdown?

Not gonna lie that loss last night, and losing when we had led the vast majority of the game was painful...but if someone told me at the beginning of the year that we would be in the Rose bowl I would have been thrilled. It's the best possible consolation to the playoff but being the first team out really does suck lol.

Classy post, OP. I would/will root for ISU when they get the chance to have a historic year. It's a really cool thing that every fan base deserves. Good luck with the new coach; he seems like a good one!

Respect to the players, and coaches, such a change from last year. They started winning and started winning and started to believe. Most, but not all Iowa fans will be chest thumping and professing to be the greatest team ever, but got robbed. Rubbing all Cyclones face in it unmercilessly, like we were not aware we were not all that good this year. But, their fans will show us no respect if we do well in BB this year. All they can talk about is ho they were robbed on other years. But congrats to players and coaches who worked and believed!

I will never respect Iowa. The same fanbase that was cheering for Iowa State to go to the MAC a couple years ago. ***k em and their over-rated team.

So many people here are talking about not respecting their a-hole fan base. This isn't about their fans being douches. That's understood by pretty much everyone here.

Watching their D was like a Russian watching Rocky against Drago. You don't want the other guy to win, but damn, gotta respect the effort.
