I hated how White Lotus ended. I also didn't enjoy two specific scenes in the last two episodes.

I thought the payoff wasn't quite as rewarding as the buildup.

The kids stories wrapped in great happy and tragic ways. The adult character's stories didn't live up to that.

Still better than vast majority of first season shows though.

I've found myself almost exclusively watching HBO over Netflix. Netflix has more stuff but HBO is much better quality IMO.

I assume Netflix must clean up with kids and under 30 because it kind of sucks for a discerning adult. They have some solid documentaries but nothing to stand up to their own stranger things. Even the Marvel series they had sucked compared to HBO Max DC series and Prime's The Boys.

Or you could believe the first reply and just cancel because 'HBO sux'

I could understand not wanting to pay for it or not liking some things that they put out, but their catalogue is fantastic and liked by almost everyone.

I can't imagine if I subscribed and watched Curb, GoT and Sopranos all from the start for the first time. Then the movie selection is typically the best too.

Oh, since it's football season Hard Knocks is always entertaining. I think they edit/play some stuff up, but for someone like me who never played football, it's very interesting.
Ballers is also good IMO. It's a drama that focuses on the agents/front office politics. The Rock stars as a retired player-turned-agent, with many other recognizable actors and real NFL players/personalities (e.g. Jay Glaser).

The first season was really well done. The settings, the storyline, the characters, the costumes, and the overall premise was amazing. I'm sure a lot of people were asking themselves 'What would I do in that place'. Interesting little bit if introspection.

It's a great premise, maybe an all time great premise. I think two things they did that hurt the show IMO. 1) they turned Maeve into a god. 2) they turned their focus to "the real world".

Yeah, there’s tons of stuff available on HBO Max. Succession is freakin fantastic … the first couple of episodes I was asking myself, why am I just watching these horrible people be horrible? but man, it just keeps getting good. The final scene of Season 2 is drop-the-mic boom-goes-the-dynamite. And Season 3 is coming next month, I think!

I will also put in my two cents for The West Wing. It may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it really helped keep me sane between November 2016 and this spring. Season 2 is quite simply one of the best seasons of television in history, especially that final 7-episode arc.

I need to watch S3 True Detective.

S2 is way better than people give it credit.

Im really finding that HBO Max cannot be a one month a year like every other service. Tons of content and drastically higher quality %.

I disagree but that might depend on your level of freetime and your level of commitment to binging shows.

It's not like they're adding that much content in a year so if you've already watched their historically great shows you could just catch up on what they've released in the last year over a month. Especially when you factor in that nobody is going to like everything someone produces so their will be shows you'll intentionally skip.

I didn't really care for Succession, not my cup of tea (satire in general is pretty hit or miss with me)

lots of great shows on HBO. For new ones, the White Lotus was good. It just finished up, just a 6 episode many series. I’d also recommend The Night Of for a a single season show, and True Detective. Mare if Easttown was real good too.

Nothing beats Sopranos of course. And obviously Game of Thrones too was another great one.
Second The Night Of. Not one that gets talked about a lot but it was REALLY good.

Loved season one of Westworld. Season two was good. Season three was terrible.

Loved season one of True Detective. Season two was okay but a giant letdown. Season three was solid.

The Wire and The Sopranos are two of the greatest TV shows of all time.

I really enjoyed Mare of Eastown. That one scene...holy crap.

Netflix seems to have gotten too into the foreign films. Even if they're dubbed, I'm a spoiled American that can't stand when the words don't match the mouths. I don't know why it bothers me, but it does. There are a few shows that I watch, but I seem to sign up for 1 or 2 months then run out of stuff to watch.

Wow, I’d flat out forgotten about so many great shows being mentioned here. How did I forget to mention Curb Your Enthusiasm? Ao damn funny.

One more that was great - The Watchmen. Just outstanding. And I was not really a fan of the movie, but the HBO series was amazing.

I'm halfway through the third episode of The White Lotus and I don't get the point. I guess I'll stick it out being that there are only six episodes.

Had a trial for HBO Max. Watched Band of Brothers and The Pacific, but also watched Chernobyl, which was really good. Might sign up for it later, but not right now:

Game of Thrones,

Curb Your Enthusiasm (like Seinfeld but with Larry David)

And you're already watching Sopranos (I've sat down and watched it a few times and I rarely ever watch reruns)

Rick and Morty was fun to watch

In October you can watch The Many Saints of Newark

The New Pope

The last episode of White Lotus just seemed like it didn't match what had proceeded it.

The wonderful human being in the spa just comfortably falls back to listening to the next group of neurotic rich ***** who show up? Not buying it.

The newlywed freaks the **** out about her MIL and husband being just awful people and then caves?

My money is on her being able to find another rich guy.
