Ha! You get out of breath in Denver going up two fights of stairs.Agreed. Generally 8000ft is where "regular people" (not college athletes) start to have problems hiking and generally milling about.
Drink something stronger and that won't be a problemAt some of the colder games I've used a cooler to keep the beer from freezing, and I'm being totally serious.
Hey I just noticed this you son of a......12 wives is a lot of children to forget
Are you through your 12 wives phase?I'm just getting through and finishing my drinking phase. To be honest, I kind of wish I never touched alcohol as I'm either stone cold sober, or a full-fledged alcoholic with no control over my drinking, no middle ground or moderation.
WTF is an "authentic texas kolache"?
I'm not even Czech but on behalf of all the gd Bohemies around CR, I am triggered!
JK!
Cedar Rapids was heavily settled by Czechs, home to the Natl Cz & Slovak Museum. So kolaches are huge here. St Ludmillas has a kolach festival every year, its their annual parish shindig, and they arent even the "Czechist" church in town (St Wenceslaus).
Altho your "texas" kolaches place definitely has a Czech name in Hruska...
Anyway, welcome to the Big12, hoping to get out there to a game, stadium looks beautiful!
Weirdness does not do it justice. Unless you’ve witnessed it or had some interactions with A&M fans, many people really don’t realize how completely off their rocker they are.
Yeah. My family is Czech and my grandma use to make kolaches all the time. The first time I had a Texas "kolache" I just said this isn't a kolache. It's good, but it's not a kolache.A Texas kolache is basically pig in a blanket.
KU 2013Is that the Tech game from last year? Man that was a brutal one.
Right. Many Texans are just too stupid to use "klobasneks".Yeah. My family is Czech and my grandma use to make kolaches all the time. The first time I had a Texas "kolache" I just said this isn't a kolache. It's good, but it's not a kolache.
I get out of breath going up two flights of stairs in western WA at an elevation of 300ft. Three hundred feet, not missing a zero. But I haven’t been doing FBS football conditioning either. I've hiked leisurely around the Cascades at 4500ft with no problems and I am FAR from in shape.Ha! You get out of breath in Denver going up two fights of stairs.
*****. Just kidding. 2 flasks of Canadian Club warmed me through that gameI was at that game, but we left about halfway through the 3rd quarter.
Pikes Peak is the only place I have ever had to deal with it, at 14K+ feet. Just walking around, not even exerting myself, I got dizzy & nauseous. Machu Picchu was half as tall, and we were hiking around it and climbed those ridiculously uneven "Inca Stairs" all the way up to the top viewing point, and other than being a little winded and achy from the stairs & the heat, no issues. I was in my 60s for both.I get out of breath going up two flights of stairs in western WA at an elevation of 300ft. Three hundred feet, not missing a zero. But I should have clarified that 8000ft is usually where altitude sickness becomes a problem.
Remember the KU peeps accused us of "icing the field" because they were sliding so much? It was wind-polished snow on real turf. What did they expect? Our guys were sliding too!Brother and I went to that Kansas game since neither wife was having any of it. I was fine but brother just couldn't keep his feet warm. As you can see from KC's pic the concrete was totally covered with ice and snow. We stuck it out and watched ISU pummel a Jayhawk team that wanted to be just about anywhere but Jack Trice Stadium that night.

From personal experience, altitude sickness is no joke!![]()
Well, at least you can enjoy the tailgate scene with BYU fans and share ice cold beers with them.....Going to the game, not enjoying the late start
