Pretty cool looking.
I have lived in my current house for almost 12 years and have never had this type of bug before. I was wondering if anyone else has these and also how I can get rid of them. At least they are slow. They are about 1/2" long.
I've always wondered if it hurts to get pinched by one of those things. I see them sometimes with those pinchers open and ready to snap, anybody ever been pinched by one?
Good to know, I am usually tempted to have them pinch me on purpose just out of curiosity. Now, I don't think I will. :wink:I got "pinched" by a bug that looked just like that, however Im not sure if it was the same thing.....I was digging in a box and next thing you know I had a sharp pain in my finger and it hurt like hell. I dumped the box out and it was just like that but I think it was all black.

Was it like this one? I think these things come in different colors.

I think you may have found your new calling! :wink:WOW...I think my picture is better than this professional picture!!
:biglaugh: Well, If I'm drunk and can find one of these things at the same time, it might cross my mind. :biggrin:Yes, it looked a lot like that one. I say you go for it, videotape it, and post it here!
I thought those things on the tail were not pincers. I think they're for digging in loose soil. Now I understand they have a painful bite though. Any Entomology students/grads wish to clarify?I've always wondered if it hurts to get pinched by one of those things. Well, whatever they're for, they sure look intimidating.I thought those things on the tail were not pincers. I think they're for digging in loose soil. Now I understand they have a painful bite though. Any Entomology students/grads wish to clarify?
