And did anyone think Cael would turn a 2-time team national champ (1920s and 1950s) PSU into winners of 8 out of the last 9 team national championships?

I did, Iowa fans were laughing about him leaving ISU, my response was be careful for what you wish for. Cael would have never won at ISU like he is doing at Penn. St. We just do not have the money required to run a blueblood program. And Penn. St. is ground zero for the best recruiting area for wrestling in the country. There, Cael never has to worry about losing a kid to Iowa because he grew up always wanting to wrestle for Iowa. I suspect Cael was fighting that a lot at ISU for home grown recruits.

They are now a recruiting rival for any good Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Illinois HS kid.

Don't kid yourself, Hoiberg will be going after many of the same upper Midwest recruits that Prohm will.

It was bad enough battling Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois for these kids.
Well, this is where Prom earns his money. Have some faith in him, recruiting is his biggest asset by far. Also, If you're constantly losing recruits to Iowa, Illinois, and Minnesota in basketball that should be extremely alarming

I already saw in one article this statement: "Hoiberg has also been attempting to recruit players to Nebraska since February, including at least one McDonald's All-American, sources say." I wonder who he is recruiting?

I'd be mad if he went to coach at an actual rival like Iowa or Kansas, or if this were 2009 and he went to Nebraska, but the whole Nebraska rivalry thing died like a decade ago.
Oh, I would say the average Cyclone fan's awareness of Nebraska bball just "came to life" again. Like watching the Huskers on BTN every chance they get, and taking careful note of any rebuilding success.
You bet Nebraska is a rival now...

Watch him become the next Cael.......

This is exactly what I am convinced will happen. This is why I posted that "unofficial standard for Prohm" thread. Compared to ISU, Nebraska has NO tradition or history in basketball. Prohm should be able to be as successful here as Hoiberg is there, but I think Hoiberg will be much more successful there, and Prohm's supporters will make all sorts of excuses.

Then go be a Nebraska fan. Nothing is stopping you.

Are you really saying Hoiberg is as good of a basketball coach as Sanderson is a wrestling coach? Seriously?

If Tamin Lipsey or Xavier Foster go to Nebraska I'd volunteer to take Fred's jersey down from the rafters and sent it to Nebby...

Its just a no win position unless Prohm beats him every year.

He fails and we have to seen a home town hero get fired again. He wins and Prohm doesn't. The noise for Prohm's head will be deafening

I'll be curious to see what his buyouts are. My prediction: he negotiated a moderate college buyout in order to agree to a high NBA buyout, then he'll be gone within 4 years to a higher profile college job.

I wish Fred all the success and I have the right to feel miffed we were the stepping stone on his dream road. But he had the most enviable situation 99% of college coaches would dream about: a loyal fan base at his alma mater; an AD who supported him; on his way to being one of the top-paying of his profession. Just beat Iowa and best wishes.
PS: I'll never forget the animosity by this fan base when Floyd left for the Bulls.
