Wherever I go, there I am.
Man, you called it 100% correct.

In my 30 years of living in Iowa, I have never seen so many chapped asses at one time! Get over it Clones!
There is likely some truth to your comment ( don't know how many asses you have viewed in your 3 decades of Iowa life). one thing is certain, however-ISU fans don't need your self-righteous observations on the matter.

I don't have nearly as much of a problem with Nebraska basketball as I do with Nebraska football.

Probably because most people in Nebraska don't really care about the basketball team and so they don't go all 'Husker over it.

Personally, I hope they start beating the crap out of Iowa 3 times a year.

Fred’s comments about Nebraska don’t really bother me. I mean, what was he supposed to say? “Sorry guys, the only reason i’m here is because no one else will pay me.”?

Fred has two massive injuries that happened in two tournaments...Babb and Niang...it’s disingenuous to act like that didn’t happen. It’s possible he would have made the Final Four had either of those not happened. It's possible nothing would have been different, but imagine if someone got hurt now how the excuses would roll out for Prohm. My point is, people act like those injuries never happened. Fact is they did. Niang was one of, if not the best player we ever had here, that team was a buzzsaw the way there were playing. That team was one of the best Cyclone teams ever, right behind the 2000 team.

I don't get why people don't understand how good a couple of those Hoiberg teams were. They had ups and downs but the Big 12 was LOADED. There is a lot of revisionist history about Fred's teams, both good and bad. They had ups and downs like any team, but overall did very well and I do think had he stayed he would have gotten us to the Final Four.

The Chris Babb year, he was one of the best defensive players in the country on a bad defensive team. Chris literally took the best scorer on the other team and held them EVERY TIME to half their average. Losing him was a killer and that bracket was very winnable if they had beaten Ohio State.

Fred checked out mid year the UAB year, it was his fault. He also had a pretty serious heart problem, but he was checked out, no question of that. Still, Fred had the following games in the tournament...UCONN, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Ohio State, NC Central, North Carolina, UCONN and UAB. His teams played great in all but one of those games. 8 games, one stinker. Not bad. Even Duke lost to Lehigh.

For those that hate Fred.....Deandre Kane, Will Clyburn, Tyrus McGee, Royce White, Georges Niang, Naz Long, Monte Morris, Deonte Burton, Abdel Nader...none of those guys are Cyclones without Fred. Steve Prohm would not be here without Fred having success. We have two Sweet 16's that are all on Fred and probably more had the injuries not happened. What Fred did here was remarkable considering where we were at when he came. He handled his departure poorly with the rumors and he stopped recruiting, but he did leave 4 NBA players and another G-league player here. Morris, Nader, Burton and Niang area all on NBA rosters. When has any coach ever left that much for the next guy?

And this defensive nazism everyone has on Fred, he wanted to play fast, and he forced the other team to adapt to that, he made other teams match up with him, if you do that you give up some points. Prohm has the opposite philosophy, he is going to play however the other team wants to play and tries to adapt as best he can in the second half. Fred threw that out the window and just said the hell with it, if you won't matchup with us then we are going to try to outscore you. It's just two different philosophies, one isn't right or wrong.

It makes me sick to see people drag Fred through the mud like he stuck it in Iowa State's a**, it was a great relationship for both Iowa State and Fred. Both benefited immensely. Fred is a wealthy man because of Iowa State and Iowa State has a Top 25 program now because Fred did well here as a coach. It's over now, I wish he would have stayed, but he didn't want to, and I assume he has good reasons for that.

In what parallel Cyclone universe do you live where the injuries to Babb and Niang don't get brought up or aren't acknowledged? Those events are topic 1 and 1a with pretty much everyone I know when the "why does God hate Iowa State?" conversations start.

Nobody makes you open links or post in the threads, man.

It will pass in a couple days. Be strong.
These posts crack me up. Is the thread title so deceptive that you don't know what it's about? WGAF what forum it's in? Don't open it if you don't want to read it.
I haven't been opening it, geniuses. It's just annoying seeing it at the top of the page and being reminded of it every time I go to the Men's Basketball forum.

Edit: and the idea that it will be over in a couple days is pretty laughable .

I don't think it will pass. The Hoiberg fans will constantly post about his success and how ISU should have canned Prohm to get Fred or the Prohm fans will constantly post about Fred's failures (depending on how things go). The local media will talk about him as well. Hoiberg news will be a staple here until he leaves again - for better and worse.

Yep, we're a fragile bunch in the Midwest. Gonna be pretty obnoxious for the foreseeable future.

Not exactly sure.
For the next few years, ESPN announcers will say, multiple times a game, that Fred: 1) was born in NE, 2) His Granddad coached there, 3) he was offered a FB scholly.

I was curious about his grandfather since they bring it up. Must have been a good coach and had success. Looked him up, he was on the same level of success as McDermott was here.

Actually that would be being mean to Mac to say that.

I will be optimistic and say that you're wrong. But if Hoiberg is a common topic for the foreseeable future, this place will be unbearable. I just don't understand how people can be so butt hurt about a coach that was here 5 years ago. I definitely underestimated how attached some fans were to Fred, what an embarrassment.

Is every place special to Fred?

Yeah, when he takes the Chicago State job after this it will be because chicago is special to him. IUPUI will be because of how special Indianapolis was to him and his family for drafting him.

Where else has he lived that has a university basketball team?
