To be fair, this thread is long so we’re obviously interested.

But think about how many articles, podcasts, radio segments, and news stories have been focused on this over the last few weeks.

Yeah, it's way over the top. All of it.

I mean it is the biggest sports story in the state of Iowa whether we like it or not. Of course they are going to cover it.

But it's not an Iowa sports story. Our media makes us look like the crazy, obsessed ex.

In the same way that anything Monte does in Denver or Georges does in Utah isn't an Iowa sports story?

Not an apples to apples comparison. When Fred left ISU to go to Chicago, the media following made sense. That was four years ago. Driving to Lincoln to cover a story about our former coach getting the head position there is overdoing it, IMO. Showing a clip from the Nebraska media would suffice.

I mean if you want to say that Fred is just a "former coach" then you do you I suppose. This is a really long and angry thread about a guy that's just a "former coach".

I'm not following the hostility. Maybe I am being naive, but let's just visualize this. What if Fred was talking to Pollard? What if Fred was keeping his eye on what Iowa State was going to do with Prohm or what Prohm was going to do to Iowa State? Do I honestly think Prohm was going to Alabama? No. Do I think discussions were made by all 3 parties? Yes. Do I think Pollard picked the phone and called Fred as an immediate back up plan if Prohm left? Jamie is a pretty smart dude, you dang right he did!

Pollard wanted Prohm, Prohm stayed. Fred took the next best option. Am I being naive? Maybe. But if this really played out like I just described then we really can't fault Hoiberg.

We would never pay Fred what Nebraska is paying him especially with what happened before. Pollard is a business man and sees we can get the same or better results with Prohm. For less money without the stink that is Matty A.

In the same way, with one major difference.

Anything ISU related is an Iowa sports story, and the coverage generally benefits ISU. Example, covering former ISU basketball stars now in the NBA.

Now we have an ISU figure getting coverage, but it benefits a school we’ll soon be competing with.

The media isn't obligated to do what's in ISU's best interest, they don't report on things former players are doing because it's good for ISU, they do it because they know people around here will care about it. Clearly people care about this.

This thing with Fred I think will be different though. Maybe not.

Repeating but Randy P. has to have just LOVED how ISU's bball season turned out and this latest stuff is just icing.

So many stupid questions he could ask, so little time.

Did the local media go to the press conference when Jeff Hornacek was announced HC at either Phoenix or New York?
First off Jeff Hornacek isn't Fred Hoiberg, Jeff played basketball here while Fred was a hometown kid turned Cyclone legend turned Cyclone coach. Jeff hasn't been associated with ISU athletics for over 30 years outside of some rumors during coaching searches, compared to less than 5 years ago for Fred.

Projectile vomiting refers to vomiting that ejects the gastric contents with great force. It is a classic symptom of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, in which it typically follows feeding and can be so forceful that some material exits through the nose.
