Hoiberg Watch 2015: Monday, June 1 Open Thread

As long as Pollard hires a quality coach, that goes by the name of Jeff Hornacek, this will be a complete non-event for me.

That would, without a doubt, be the most seamless transition for the fanbase. There are very few who wouldnt get behind that.

One little note: Sounds like Charlie Henry will be on Hoiberg's staff in come capacity in Chicago. Probably not as a coach but like a video guy or something like that.

I guess when they were tweeting about NBA plays after the surgery, it was plays for the Bulls.

I hope Fred hits rush hour at its heaviest tomorrow. Sitting in stop and go traffic for a couple hours.
Then he'll be reminded what his commute from the North Shore down to the UC will be like every day. No more quick 10 minute commutes from North Ames to the practice facility.

As someone that hasn't missed a home football game since 1999 and decided to fly to Brooklyn for a single basketball game, this is probably the day my interest in college athletics changed. I'll still be around, but hard to see it ever feeling the same again.

"Jamie Pollard, Iowa State’s sometimes brash athletics director who was roundly criticized for hiring Hoiberg in the first place. I was a fill-in host on 1460 KXnO’s afternoon show on the day that the Hoiberg news broke back in 2010. My co-host aggressively mocked the move. Cyclone fans filled up the phone lines, many angry at Pollard’s decision." -CW
Maybe if the next coach is not JH, it will be OK anyway.

I'm past the denial, anger, and bargaining. Right now, I'm at depression. Honestly, I've gotten so accustomed to this basketball program being good that if it isn't, and it dips down again, I won't even know what to do.

Except his salary just doubled, so I bet he thinks about that instead.

Do what your signature says you're going to do.. because at some point that time IS going to happen again, it maybe next year, it maybe in 10 years but nothing lasts forever! Enjoy and celebrate the good times, support the team during the not so good times.

17 years ago when Floyd left I felt that it was the end, especially when they hired some guy named Larry to replace him. Things didn't go so good that first year, but man what a ride we all had!
