Bumping this thread... looking into booking our honeymoon

Right now were looking at Riveria Maya, just because the costs seem to be a little bit more palatable... but we're open to suggestions... I'm wanting to stay under $4K total for the trip, but want it to be nice and memorable.. TIA

I loved Negril. Can I ask how much the Riviera Maya ones are looking to be? I'm still determined to get to a beach this year......

For the OP, you don't have to go anywhere to get what you want. Go to Twin Peaks and climb some mountains and then head over the Beach Girls for sand and surf! The new mrs will be more than impressed.

I need destinations too, was thinking Hawaii, Tahiti or Bora Bora.

Bora Bora is one of the Islands of French Polynesia, as is Tahiti. You fly into Tahiti, but you don't want to stay there. It's kind of nasty. I suggest spending a couple of days on Moorea which you can see from the island of Tahiti. You can take a ferry there or fly over and then take another 30 minute flight to Bora Bora for a few days. It's pretty incredible. It's a long trip to French Polynesia so take some time but spending it all on Bora Bora will get pricey. $15 for a beer is not uncommon and neither is spending $100 on lunch. Moorea is great and much less expensive.

CFers,

I'm trying to decide on a great destination for my honemoon, I have traveled the world extensively and would like to find the prefect place. As of now, we are thinking Rio or/and New Zealand. We want to do some activites (hiking/surfing/etc) so it's got to have elevation changes and sun.

Thanks for Johnny!,

I would vote New Zealand. It's on my list of most wanted places to visit (#1). Friend of mine said him and his wife went there a couple years back. He said it is absolutely amazing because you get the best of both worlds. It has the beautiful mountains to do extreme sports, along with the beaches for lounging. It's pricey, but probably a worthwhile place that I would like to visit in the near future. I also used to have a customer who did wild game hunting there, he said the place is awesome and will probably go back.

Edit post: And then I realized you bumped the thread without checking the date of the first post. Sounds like you made your decision. Enjoy!

Bora Bora is amazing. I went there for my honeymoon, got an overwater bungalow at the Sofitel. You could dive into 10ft deep warm water filled with coral and tropical fish right from your deck. It's pricey but worth it IMO.
Tahiti is nothing special, pick Hawaii over that.

Why spend all that money when you should want to spend most of the time in bed?

We went to the Grand Caymans. Really good water sport place.

New Zealand is really cool. Lot to do and an amazing place. Lot of the dollars to get there however and if you are on your honeymoon, would think you're not going to spend as much time outside as you might think.......

I think it's really hard to beat the Hawaiian islands. Very beautiful place, not as expensive a trip as New Zealand and lots to do. If I were to do over, that's where I'd take my wife.

Jamaica is also pretty nice. Cheapest trip of the three and if you get a nice all inclusive resort, it's hard to beat. Ya man...
