Duh!
Is the NFL Network not available at all through Medicom? Is it part of a sports pack that can be purchased?

No, it is not an option.

I believe Comcast only recently added it. Other big cable companies have yet to add it from my understanding.

The game is on Dish Network, DirecTV and ImOn here in Cedar Rapids. I believe most cable carriers in Iowa, minus Mediacom, carry the NFL Network.

I'm glad mediacom hasnt caved to the nfl network (and wished they hadnt caved to the big 10 network). Mediacom (and most cable operators) would love to have these channels, but nfl and big 10 force the operator to put it on a basic tier, and make all customers pay for it whether they want it or not, and most operators would rather put it on one of their sports packs. Id rather have the option. To be honest, theres about 2-3 games a year id watch on *either* of these networks, and for that little demand, i can go to a sports bar instead of paying for it.

Well, if this does happen, I could get lucky. I doubt Mason City would be able to get it, but I might get lucky with Albert Lea/Austin/Rochester stations maybe showing it.

Or FSNorth buys it and shows it.

But driving down to Ames for a bowl party sounds better.

i couldn't agree with you more the fccy...from lake mills myself.

may have to visit doug at papa's cafe to watch...but that would mean me traveling to mason city.

+1

If I wasn't going to the game, I'd be planted at Johnny's (or similar) having a great time with fellow 'Clone fans.

Are you basing that on something you heard?

I figure Mediacom won't be likely. (Why would NFL Network allow Mediacom to carry just this one game when they won't agree to carry the network otherwise?) But I thought it might be possible that one of the local stations would come through like the Fox affiliate in KC did last year when Kansas played.

Sure would be a lot easier for the people who can't do that--not to mention a lot cheaper for everybody--if a local TV station simulcast it.

For the record, I have DirecTV and NFL Network. I'm just looking out for my fellow Cyclone fans.

Do you have to buy Sunday Ticket to get NFL Network/Channel on DTV or is NFL Network/Channel part of the regular programming package?

According to Wikipedia, last year's Insight Bowl between Kansas and Minnesota was simulcast on the local Fox affiliate in Kansas City and shown for free on Comcast cable in the Twin Cities.

Since Mediacom doesn't carry NFL Network, maybe we can count on one of the local stations in DSM to simulcast the game?

Keep dreaming mediacom is lame, time to change to Direct TV...

You don't need Sunday Ticket. I think you need at least the Choice Xtra package.

It's so nice just having the NFL Network in HD so I don't have to worry about all this. I love my MCG cable!
