I know for a fact Kenny Powers just took a $200 endorsement deal from Ashley Schafer BMW, how is it not a violation that he played for UNI tonight?

He's also been **** fighting, snorting coke, playing professional baseball in Mexico, stealing sports cars, stealing credit cards, and taking steroids.

If the NCAA won't rule him ineligible at least UNI should suspend the guy.

If you "know" all this stuff, and have not gone to the NCAA with your evidence, aren't you responsible for him playing?

Don't be hatin' on El Flama Blanca.

Thought the same thing. Nice haircut, O'Rear. Did he lose a bet or something?

Playing professionally in other sports is NOT NCAA violation. Xavier Henry's brother CJ played with Yankees and was eligible to play for Kansas. Because of his signing bonus with Yankees, he was driving pretty sweet SUV.

Ohio State's kicker was a professional also.

Yeah, I knew that O'Rear was a baseball player too, but I didn't know that he was already in the big leagues and flamed out before coming to UNI.

Correct, getting paid to play other pro sports is not a violation, but taking endorsement money for anything is. Just ask Jeremy Bloom, former pro skiier and FB player for Colorado. Was ruled ineligible by the NCAA for taking endorsement money while skiing.

Iowa State should have gotten two free throws and the ball to start the game because that haircut deserved a technical foul or at least an OFFENSIVE foul.

So being a professional athlete doesn't jeopardize your amateur status, but playing on a team with other professional athletes does? Odd.

Not many Eastbound & Down fans on CF...it's funny how many are taking this seriously.

Oh no, I love Eastbound and Down, totally understood the reference, laughed, and actually thought the same thing as soon as I saw O'Rear. The conversation just turned to something I didn't realize a player could do-- so I asked about it.

I think he is probably eligible because the NCAA is protecting big name programs like UNI.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to you...I misquoted your response when I replied.

Now we're getting somewhere.

So it is ok with the NCAA rules that UNI has a professional Mexican baseball player on their team.

I still don't get how he can play with the $200 endorsement deal from Ashley Schafer BMW. Maybe he hasn't been caught with the coke and steroids or stealing cars/credit cards yet, but that endorsement deal was public knowledge to everyone and promoted on the radio and had signs printed up.

Whoever said his dad probably took money from UNI boosters to sink it into a Mexican ATV business is spot on. I guess Kenny just didn't know about that so it's ok.
