I'm sure I'm like many and don't have a "typical" day so to speak. I'm curious as to how many hours, let's say in a week, that everyone is actually working.
There's a lot of things at my business that I do that I don't count as true work. I'd guess on average I am not doing actual work stuff for more than 4 hours/day, and that's probably generous.
What about the rest of the fanatics?

You're probably looking for full time employee answers, but as a student, I work 3-4 hours on the days I'm scheduled which isn't every day of the week.

Tax season? 50+ hours of work/week and 60ish in my office.

Not to tax season? 33-35 hours of work/week with 40 in my office.

I get around
Zero on the clock. Retired. Life is good!

Same here. However, since we are retired, we are free to do stuff for elderly parents. Between them and our own things we do, it's busy from the time we get up until bedtime. We're busier now than when we were working.

When I was in the office: 40-45 hours a week of legitimate nose to the grindstone work

In the field when construction was going on: 30-40 hours of legitimate work

Now: 10 hours of legitimate work (as evidenced by my skyrocketing post count)

CF counts as work under the heading of "networking". At least that is what helps me sleep at night.

Being a farmer and seed dealer makes hours worked very different depending on the time of year. Right now i should be working about 16 hours a day 7 days a week for about 3-4 weeks but it rained last night so i get some free time today.

when everything is planted and starts slowing down a little then i will work about 60-70 hours a week mowing and spraying. Middle of July to August I work probably 30-40 hours a week and then in Sept it fires up again. Back to 120 hours a week or so until harvest is over or it rains and gives us a break. Harvest and fall tillage usually lasts until mid november.

I am pretty busy with seed sales from after harvest until around christmas, 50-60 hours a week and then January to March 15 is dead. maybe 20 hours a week unless I am skiing which i do a ton of because it is my slowest time of year. basically my only vacations happen during late winter.

I always park the combine for ISU home football games and I take all Tuesday nights off for golf league during the summer. If you add all that up I work about the same as a guy who works about 50 hours a week with 4 weeks vacation. My hours just come in bunches.
