Someone mentioned it yesterday but Tempe is further from Arlington than Ames. I think we outnumber ASU fans at least 1.5 to 1

My mom lives in Tempe now. Pretty connected with some friends who are asu alum. Doesn’t sound like they are expecting a massive turnout. She doesn’t know of anyone going. Guessing they will have a good group but vibes down there are we will out number them

I'm guessing a lot of folks who have gone through their online learning could care less about football.
even so, their Tempe campus has around 56k students....sure their online enrollment is massive but they do have actual alumni who live and work around the country

We had a good crowd in 2020. I expect 60-65% ISU this Saturday. I'm not sure why folks remember no one being there vs. ou...

There were restrictions on attendance numbers, and they required gaps between groups as I remember. So it had the impression that there wasnt many there. For the time and restrictions I think we had a pretty good attendance.

I’ll be there and I think we’ll have a good turnout. I do wish they priced tickets lower though. They should have priced them low so that place would be packed.

I think they’ll drop significantly by Thursday but by then folks will have decided they’re not going. I think there’s no shot all 90k seats are full, but they should have made that a priority
I thought standard capacity for AT&T was 80k. They can expand for special events (Super Bowl, etc.) but I doubt they do for this. Expanded capacity is 100k.

Still, 80k is much larger than either of these teams’ home stadiums. Given that this is a hike for both fanbases, I would have liked to see them open with cheap tickets to get people on both sides to come down

Lived in Phoenix for a bit now. The Tempe campus has a huge enrollment and ASU has multiple other campuses leading to tons of alumns (outside of online). They have some diehards but in general its an extremely fairweather fanbase in a pro sports area and honestly pretty poor support for the number of alumns they have. I will say their President and former AD badly mismanaged athletics so maybe they checked out... but a fanbase that actually gives a **** wouldn't have let that happen in the first place.

Anecdotally their fans are excited they're good but the extreme majority of people at my workplace didn't really give a **** until the last couple weeks and no one even considered going.

All that being said, flight options from Phx to Dallas were extremely limited, mostly terrible options, and expensive. So much so I briefly considered making the 15 hour drive. My assumption is that ASU fans booked the flights before I started looking in the 3rd quarter of the BYU game.

Tl;dr I think ISU fans will out number ASU but it won't be a massive advantage. I could be happily incorrect though.

65,191 - OU/BU (2019)
64,104 - OU/TCU (2017)

would anticipate a dropoff based on that.

- for every prior event there was at least one team within 4 hours drive (UT, OU, TCU, BU, OSU) and often both teams. This time both teams are significantly farther away
- most of the time at least one of the teams knew they were headed to this game before the final week, where neither ISU or ASU knew for certain until later in the day on Saturday this year.

Probably betting on overall attendance somewhere in the upper 50s

I think the Covid crowd was around 18,000.

Not that it matters, but I would call the attendance pretty horrible. I would guess real number to be around 35k.
Agree. I was there, and I get that both schools are very far away, but this was essentially a playoff game for both. I had expected better

If people were planning on traveling to a playoff game or the bowl game I'd guess that played a factor.
