You are geographically disconnected from the MWC. In that regard you would be a much better fit with the MAC
I shouldnt even respond to this, but we'd be on the far west end of the MAC, and the far east end of a MWC, or MWC-remainder of big 12 hybrid. Neither is really optimal.

Plus, look at average stadium capacity. Our cap is about 50-55k. The average stadium size, when you exclude Temple, who uses the Eagles stadium, is 27.6k. Our stadium would be twice that, and exceed the next biggest by about 20k, meanwhile the MWC averages about 45k. Obviously we fit better in one than the other.

And finally, the MWC\big 12 remainder is more likely to have an auto-bid.

Perhaps this has been addressed elsewhere. How many Iowa State fans stop being Iowa State fans if or when NU and U of M enter the Big Pick Your Favorite Number conference? If the worst happens and we end up in a Mountain West type conference, how many bail rather than see us play Colorado State rather than the huskers?
None of the true Cyclone fans are going anywhere. If we do happen to get deleted to an "inferior' conference, it wil just mean more wins/championships. Take a look at who we have running our programs(all), we can compete anywhere and we will...

We move down, theres less revenue. Less revenue = less ability to pay our coaches and less ability to pay them more when other schools come calling. I think FH and probably BF would stay, both are incredibly attached here. PR... i wouldnt blame him at all for taking his skills to a major conference if we werent in a major conference anymore. CJL? Those offers from other major schools start to look more attractive.

Here nor there

Great point.
Along those lines, I am hearing that the Big 10 is now contacting the MAC about the possibility of merging with that conference. It makes sense; no geographical or quality of play disconnect, embarrassing non-conference "upsets" and close games of the past would then be masqueraded by the all too familiar Big 10 "parity".... The name of the conference would finally be an accurate embodiment of the conference, mid(average) play from teams in the mid-portion of America. Sounds great.

We'll be fine, we will go to Mountain West, what's left of the Big XII or Conf USA.

The landscape will change for a lot of schools and we will find a seat at the table.

You can't dispute our fan base, ticket sales and competitiveness in most sports.

Don't get your panties bunched up yet.

Holy cow, the thought of the OP is ridiculous. You should seriously be ashamed of yourself, and I have to question if you are a true Cyclone fan at the moment even before the breakdown of the Big XII.

0 true ISU fans will leave. I am a KSU grad but would still attend the same amount of ISU games. I enjoy the atmosphere at Jack Trice and enjoy watching the Clones play regardless of the opponent.
