FWIW I have never heard anyone IRL say that the Cyhawk game needs to go. Its only message board folks on both sides.

I just wish it was possible to move it to Thanksgiving weekend. I think that would be way more fun than week 2/3. You wouldn't have the 'early season emotion' so strong on either side.

I've seen backing for that from fans on CF here & there (sometimes connected to when '01 game was moved due to 9/11). I get the impulse to do so, but I don't like the idea.

1 -- I like having it be (roughly) final Saturday of summer -- sort of state-of-Iowa appropriate, just before fall harvest commences.
2 -- Rivalry week/history has elements I like, but I prefer to get the game out of the way.
