ISU moving to the PAC is no different than 5 years ago JP was seriously looking at the Big east as Plan b if things fell apart..that is known fact...So you would rather be locally in the MAC conference than the PAC? Crazy. ISU bball and football would be finished...over. You think Iowa fans are bad now wait until this scenerio happens.

And there are a lot of ISU alums who follow ISU sports..And yes if football were more successful it would help. People also choose to go to and want to go to a University to see good sports.

I can't think of how disastrous it would be for this AD if it lost a P5 conference..New stadium renovations...$100 mil in borrowed debt..etc...I can't believe there are some who just think Meh..and yet they are on a cyclone message board..lol..oh which would all go away accept for maybe 1 site. I don't think people realize just how bad it would be for ISU overall.

Baylor and TCU are being referred to as powerhouses with long storied histories. They aren't. They are schools that have had good success the last several years. 8 years until the GOR is up. IF Campbell has success that includes a breakout season or two, then Iowa State becomes more attractive then the teams we are talking about adding. Give us a winning football team in a sold out 60,000 plus football stadium. Excellent Basketball. And Excellent Academics. We are not the wallflower people claim. Other schools may be located in higher population areas. But no one cares about them.

Let's just hope we maintain AAU status.

I think the real reason behind being so adamant about extending the GOR with expansion is that from ISU's perspective (KSU too, ect), you don't necessarily want more non P5 schools getting 7-8 years of P5 money to build infrastructure and prove their worth before the next round of realignment.

If we're heading to 4 x 16 super conferences ISU doesn't need Houston as a legit P5 competitor to deal with when the last couple of spots are up for grabs.
