Ok guys, I'll play along. Heck, I loved JO as much as anybody. Let's apply the "JO strategy" to today's world:

We're looking for a coach who is: 1) a few years removed from a final four 2) is currently under appreciated at a big name school 3) will get a 30+% raise by coming to ISU, and 4) Can be "convinced" by JP. Here's our list:

2009 North Carolina Michigan St Villanova Connecticut
2008 Kansas Memphis North Carolina UCLA
2007 Florida Ohio St UCLA Georgetown
2006 Florida UCLA George Mason LSU
2005 North Carolina Illinois Michigan St Louisville
2004 Connecticut Georgia Tech Duke Oklahoma St
2003 Syracuse Kansas Texas Marquette
2002 Maryland Indiana Kansas Oklahoma
2001 Duke Arizona Maryland Michigan St
2000 Michigan St Florida Wisconsin North Carolina

So that narrows down our search to 1) Ben Howland 2) Billy Donovan 3) Rick Pitino 4) Bruce Weber 5) Gary Williams and 6) Paul Hewitt.

So now all we need is about a 6-yr $20M offer, and some convincing by our AD - right?

I'm losing faith real fast in McD, but that's the problem, with letting him go. When he leaves, we'll likely lose our recruits, get a couple transfers, and end up like Iowa for a couple years. Or we ride him out, possibly see improvement, possibly wallow in obscurity in the bottom third of the big 12.
