Omaha tv stations mention ISU because there are a lot of us fans, also they love to rub it in to the Hawks. Most really, really, hate Iowa fans.

I love to tell this story because it still blows my mind how out of touch they are over there.

Met a husker fan across the street from the Arena in Omaha after the Creighton game. Was about my age (late 30s, maybe early 40s) Nice enough guy, lives in Omaha. Well spoken, seemed intelligent enough and relatively successful in life. Conversation picked up nicely over hating on the hoks.

He turns to me with a straight face as says Ferentz would have been fired a long time ago if he was at Nebraska with his same record. Nothing but NC or bust, 10 wins will NEVER be good enough in Lincoln. They deserve titles, it's their God given right. And there's no excuse for not being in the natioanl title game every 2 or 3 years minimum. They will never settle for anything less.

For good measure, he even threw in there that with the new arena Hoiberg was on borrowed time and he should be fired in the next year or two if they aren't making Sweet 16s sooner rather than later.

I think about this conversation often, idk if there's a more delusional attitude you can possibly have given all that we've seen. They are a special kind of insufferable over there, even at their best.

Come on...FranGaret and the "right way" is every bit as delusional.

That was absolutely glorious watching Nebby get curb stomped by Indiana. Here's hoping Ohio State drops another 50 burger on them.

The part I love is that the nature of the playoff rewards running up the score. I assume tOSU will not want to be outdone by IU and will hang a 70 burger on them...

...but I'll admit I'm not ready to call Rhule + UNL a failure yet. He took BU from worst to first and his Temple Owls beat PSU for the first time in 40 years.

My sincere hope is that it truly is a Nebraska problem and they will never permit a good coach to take the time required to build a program. Nebraska fancies themselves as a UT tier AD that just has to pay the right coach to get them there when in fact they're Iowa with a total lack of patience.

What stations are those? I watch channel 7 and there have been many times this year they show a condensed top 25 with only b10 teams but not ISU. I barely pay attention to Omaha TV sports so maybe others are better or I've missed but it almost was feeling like a troll job with us being ranked and them not ever showing it.

I've never had a bad or negative interaction with a Nebraska fan. Being said, I hope their sellout streak never ends and I hope they never win another game, ever gain. Just a stadium full of losers watching more losers play football.

In Nebraska after football, the next biggest thing they religiously follow like a pig snorkeling into a mud puddle after an ear of corn, is recruiting. Which plays into their absolutely amazing standing room only Spring game. They actually scalp tickets to the Spring game honest to god. Which is because, like the spoiled 3rd grader, they think with recruiting all those 4 & 5 Star players (which aren’t), they will see the miracle emerge in the Spring. I give their fan base props for not giving up because this happens every year and then they get humiliated in the fall. And do the same thing over again. It’s actually quite astonishing. But really what else is there to do in Nebraska?

The only time I like the Huskers is when they are playing EIU.

Only time I root against Nebraska when they play Iowa is if a Nebraska win means they go bowling

They do have a lot on big donors and money behind the program, but almost all the advantages that fueled those 90’s teams are gone. They had the perfect timing, support within the state, and lack of competition to fuel those teams. Those advantages have disappeared including the following.

Partial qualifiers

Local scholarships within NE that went to “outstanding” students attending Lincoln who just happened to also be the best football players as well, supporting a unfair “walk-on” program

Any issues with football players being swept under the rug/hidden from the public or media

Outsized TV presence compared to other schools

Top tier strength and conditioning (along with performance enhancing boosts) when other schools weren’t investing in this near as much

They can certainly improve from the past 10 years of poor teams, but I believe they should have been happy where Bo Pelini had brought them.

Unfortunately for any coach who takes that job the expectations are still being a “blue blood” program and winning national championships. Those days have passed them but their fans still don’t realize it almost 30 years later.

And it took Osborne 25yrs of building to get that first championship. Even starting with Devaney’s titles, it took time to rebuild to a champion
