I have been a couple times. Once was at a work function - I mostly don’t remember, but I do know the skeezy hypnotist hit on me afterwards. I haven’t ever done it again.

This seems more dangerous than an open bar at the company Christmas party

I've only tried it once and it was at a company Christmas party. Didn't work on me, but the tasks were pretty tame so I played along (the open bar made that easier to accomplish). Everybody seemed to believe it, so I guess it adequately entertained.

I'm a very skeptical person in general, but it'll be hard for me to ever believe it's real after experiencing it. That said, I could see it working better on people who fall asleep easy as that one poster suggested (I do not). I'm sure there are different skill levels for hypnotists like anything else, too.

Cosby vibes. I don’t believe it works personally but if it does on some I wouldn’t ever do it without someone you trust being present.

I've wondered about this for years after attending a few shows. My hypothesis is: the easier it is for you to fall asleep, the easier it is to be hypnotized. I'm a very light sleeper and it usually takes me quite a while drift off. I often struggle with insomnia. Pretty sure hypnotism is impossible for me.
This checks out for me as someone who has been hypnotized from the audience 3x

My partner struggles with insomnia and tells me I fall asleep comically fast.

Just the other night I told Mrs KnappShack that all women should be gay for Salma.

She didn't disagree
Sounds like my ex who has never been with a women but flat out told me she'd cheat on me with Mila Kunis while we were watching Ted one night. I just asked her if I could watch.

1. It's not cheating if you're consenting to it
2. It's called a cuckold kink

My wife is that way with Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt. I just respond with, yeah, you'd have to wait for me to finish first.

I used to work security at a biker rally and it was long hours and bikers that dont sleep. They would bring in a hypnotist for a show one of the days and some of the guys would try to get hypnotized because they said it felt like they actually got several hours of sleep. Never worked for me

I have not been hypnotized myself, but this reminds me of a little over 20 years ago while in college, my girlfriend at the time invited me to go to Funnybone in DSM with her family. I didn't know it was going to be a hypnotist show. I think she was 21 and I was still 20 and under drinking age, so I was nervous about drinking since we were with her Dad, Mom, older brother, and older sister.
Well, sure enough my GF volunteers to go on stage to be hypnotized because she said she had been before and "it's so refreshing".
She goes up with like 7 other people on stage. They put her under, and then scurvy hypnotist dude starts asking her if she's single, she responds no, has a boyfriend. I start to sweat a little being at the table with her family...guy asks her to point to a physical feature she likes about her boyfriend....she immediately points to her crotch. Place erupts. I can feel her family turn and stare at me and I knew I could not risk making any eye contact, grabbed a beer out of the bucket of beers on the table and kept lazer focus on the stage. Hypnotist asked her if any other features and then she pointed at her butt and I at least could breathe a bit of a sigh of relief.
When she came back to the table she had no recall of being under or what she said/did, but she said she was super refreshed. Later that night her sister told her about her responses and while she kind of shrugged it off, I made a point to try to avoid her family events for awhile.

I was at one where the hypnotist sent everyone out to do lap type dances thinking the napkins were money. I uhm got one of those dances and it was pretty uncomfortable because I’m picturing some angry boyfriend nearby. I know they supposedly can’t make you do something you don’t want to do, but it felt a bit weird.
