They didn't play that poorly. Problem was Fred waited too long to stop the 12-2 run and its damage was done. Then we couldn't get a rebound or a defensive stop. Turned the ball over severall times, and Niang tried to be the hero and forced a bunch of garbage at the end. Fell apart in the last 8 minutes.

100% right on.

you really are a jerk. Take a break from the board and grow the hell up.
George's was better playing the center not trying to be a slasher. A lot of people on the board has said it. It's true

I am supporting the team, which is why I am ****** we lost a HUGE game at HOME numb nuts.

you are behaving like a spoiled child. Again the bad defense was not good. Inexcusable. But fans need to suck it up.

Baylor had something to do with it.

You mean the fans get over inflated expectations. Teams lose games. God damn, we have some unrealistic fans. Baylor is just as talented as we are.

Yes on all counts. BU is a really good team. This was the remaining game on the schedule that scared me the most. We don't match up well with them at all.

Evidently this team feels that defense is still an optional component of the game. Shake my head. With their offensive talent they could be really good...but they almost refuse to play defense....stubborn

Hoping for some sarcasm here.

This loss was different in that it was ISU giving up the lead, but bad defense and untimely offensive possessions are reasons they lost earlier in the year, so I'm not convinced of the 'wake up call'.

Yes, the CF wakeup call, because so many teams reach a level where they never again have poor games, let alone possessions.

Teams lose, and in this conference you can play well and lose. Look at the physical talent on the court- if we do not play near our very best, we easily can lose. It is unrealistic to expect peak performance every night.

our defense has actually been pretty solid in the last few wins. Quit making generalizations. "Shake my head"

OU is Baylor, but better. Both tough matchups. KSU and TCU are on the road. A heck of a tough schedule, but one that will get us ready for the tournament.

Toughest part? Kansas handed it to us, gift wrapped with a bow. Now they're celebrating #11 and we're fighting for the scraps. KU is is very good, but not much more. Seeing them back into the title is kinda sad for our conference.
Add to that them doing their nationally recognized reputation for an early tourney collapse and the season is complete.

At least ISU doesn't have to win @ KSU now. They can take it easy until the big tournament.

I didn't say "over the course of the year" I said this team feels like defense is optional.

Don't be an Ostrich with your head in the sand. Baylor was making uncontested and wide open three point shots all night. This wasn't because ISU was playing "good" defense it was because they were playing poop defense.

And that isn't a generalization...they were not playing good defense. If you think they were, you probably LOVE the Harlem globetrotters

Splitting hairs I agree. But Gathers is just such a handful for us with his size and thats a big reason BU is scary. With that being said, OU is a tough matchup for us too. They're all tough! And our defense will tend to keep our margin of error very slim.

I'd love to hear the meida ask Fred why don't they guard the three. We know they won't because they don't want to upset him or bite the hand that feeds them but after multiple games of this I've heard nothing. Not a peep on why we don't seem to stop their threes.

Pretty sure Georges said their wake up call was after the Oakland game for their poor defense. When I heard that I said "good, he and the team are self aware"

then i I heard it after the Maryland game

and the South Carolina game

and the Texas Tech game

and the Oklahoma game

and we'll probably hear it here too.

Careful with those realistic opinions and everything. Everyone knows that this team can't play D and isn't tough enough to compete, which is evident by our 10-5 record in the Big XII. I mean we pretty much handed KU (who has to play at OU) the outright title. I mean 2 weeks ago everyone on this board was talking about how IN the Big XII race we were. I can't believe that Freddy would stick to packing the paint and playing percentages and making people hit from outside as opposed to giving up the lane with a team that we all are well aware isn't a great or even good defensive team.
