I was just thinking

Please don't skewer me to bad on here, but a thought popped into my mind. Knowing how touchy the talk of CFH going to the NBA is, is it maybe a positive sign that assistant coach Abdelmassiah left for SJU? I know how desirable the SJU position is to him, I would think the only more desirable coaching position to him would be in the NBA. I don't think he would be leaving CFH/Cyclones if CFH had any plans to make the jump to the NBA in the near future as I'm sure coach Abdelmassiah would be going with him.

If this has been discussed in a prior thread, I apologize. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

To play devil's advocate... maybe Matt only left because he figures Fred is leaving soon. Matt wanted to get the St. John's job while he had the chance, knowing Fred's leaving soon anyway.

Considering he said he would coach with Fred again, it's pretty safe to assume Fred isn't going to the NBA yet and that Matt will join him when he does.

I guess it depends if Matt would rather go to the NBA or coach at his alma mater. This is like an endless circle.

Yeah, I agree with you. Also, the fact that Otz came back is another example of Fred not having him come back if he plans to dip out right after. Fred could have acted like he was taking his time to find someone and then go to NBA. (Yes, ik this has been mentioned before). He's DEF not leaving this year I would be shocked.

I think it could be twisted around in one's mind to be whatever they wish it to be, and as such isn't something that I would give too much thought.

Simple fact is- if a certain NBA job is the only one Fred would leave for opens up (whatever it may be I don't know) nothing else matters. If your dream job opens getting a new boss or co-worker at your current job won't matter.

I haven't twisted it around in my mind one bit. Every action by Fred and others have me 100% convinced Fred will be coaching ISU next season and many to come. On top of that, believe he will never coach in the NBA. I find any speculation about it to be comical.

This...For instance...maybe Otz came back because Fred has him in mind as a successor here, and getting him in place makes him comfortable leaving the place in good shape.

(totally don't know or spend time worrying about it...he'll leave when he leaves or stay when he stays without any ability to control the situation on my part, hence no reason to let it influence my life)

Speaking of dream jobs, mine would be your avatar's decolletage powder-er.

Fred left the NBA for his dream job.

I'm not sure there's a drastically better roster than Golden State or a drastically better organization than Chicago.

If there's even a slight issue, not sure why people think recruiting where your assistants can help you is more taxing than coaching 100-ish games and 50-ish road games instead of 33 games and 14 road games, not to mention media microscope, MANY nba coaches of the year getting fired the next season, etc...
