Bubu is probably the best at getting in to the lane on our team - which is what this offense is needing. I would love to say that it is Allen, but he seems to want look for a mid to long range jump shot rather than getting to the rim.
I thought bubu was the mvp of the game. After White's explosion to start the game, it was bubu who led the offense and created opportunities the rest of the game. As far as the last few minutes, I think he got a little winded. He was one of the only guys hustling on our team. The free throws are a problem, but that is true for our entire team. That was a 20 point game if we just make some free throws. I wish our starters would work as hard as bubu and mcgee are working.
It was 15-13 when Bubu entered the game.
I think he played the rest of the first half, which ended 48-27.
That run wasn't directly related to his specific, measurable contribution. But a lot of players were in the rotation during that time. It could have had something to do with what lineups were involved. However, there did seem to be an increase in overall energy. Maybe the team gets resurgent when he's in the lineup. It could also be a coincidence.
Contrary to that, he entered in the 2nd half when it was 52-36, and there was no such resurgence.

I think this pretty much sums it up right here. His on the ball defense is also a benefit, which helps to extend our defense.
I don't know if this is true with the universities or not, but I know with some of the colleges, if you are a full time employee, your kids get free tuition. I can't say for sure if this is the case or not, but Freddy would be a similar situation to this. I know this was a major perk at the school I part time lectured at.
Don't forget, Marc had Iowa State's first ever triple-double. While not a star, he was solid and could contribute in a lot of ways.
Yes, he deserves a scholly, but has anyone ever considered that maybe with his situation (home right here in Ames, plenty of academic scholarships, parents doing okay financially, etc.) he may not want an athletic scholarship. Maybe success of his team is more important to him and he wants another quality player for the team so they can be more successful during his time here. I don't know if this is true, but we shouldn't just assume that he wants one and he is being denied.
I always thought it was crazy that that millionaire kid (Oklahoma or Okie State, maybe??? Last name started with 'K', I think) a few years ago took a scholarship instead of letting his team get deeper and possibly more successful. Don't get me wrong, if Bubu wants one, there is no shame in that. His situation is clearly not the same.
I said all of last year if he earns a spot in the rotation THIS year he deserves a schollie. Many on this board were quick to slam the door as if their opinions were carved in stone facts. Well it looks like he's earned that spot but the scholarship may not be available until his SR year.
I think players run the floor better when they have a controlled PG on the floor. The bigger guys run harder and run better lanes when they know there is a good chance that Bubu has his head up looking for the guy ahead of him. I'm not saying he was the main reason for any surge, but I have always been a fan of Bubu. As an ISU fan, I'm always a big fan of any walk-on, weather they play or not. The dedication it takes to be a walk-on, and most times w/o any recognition until senior day, takes a lot of love for the sport and University. + he's from Ames. Proud of Bubu and all that he brings to the court!
Scholarship availability may be a factor. I wouldn't push for him to get one if it needs to be used for better players. But as far as "deserving" — I've seen just as much upside to Palo than plenty of players in the past five years or so who did get scholarships. I guess it's relative.
The "S" in ISU stands for state in case anyone has forgotten. I don't know of any exceptions where it would matter if you are a full time employee or a tenured professor, you will pay for your child to attend this school. I wish it were different, as it would save me some money, but it is not.
I couldn't agrre more with Velodrome. Maybe success of his team is more important to him and he wants another quality player for the team so they can be more successful during his time here. Not offering him a scholarship is a business decision from the coaching staff. They know that Bubu would have attended college anyway. So if they can save a scholly and bring a quality player that 's great for the program. Moreover, most people are not aware that Bubu declined scholarships(4) offers to play Division 1 soccer( all state HS Forward) to be a walk-0n at ISU. How many kids would do that? If I were him I would accepted (without any hesitation) the full ride soccer scholarship.
