Re: Other Longshots

That is a horrible "argument." It's still D1 coaching experience. Hoiberg barely coached in the NBA even..I'm not actually 100% certain if he was ever anything more than an VP/operations guy.

You are right, but is it any more risky? I think not you think so. I am OK with that.

It's about both recruiting and coaching. Anyone who thinks you can recruit a bunch of 5 star guys and automatically win obviously don't pay enough attention to basketball. Need we remind you Kentucky's lineup is full of NBA players and lottery picks and still couldn't even get to the Final 4?

Yea our 15 win season was wayyyyyyyyy better then a sweet 16 trip.

And North Carolina was barely .500 this year with studs. But the fact remains you never know what will happen with a proven coach or a new coach. (Roy Williams/Paul Rhoads)

A Leader

What this team has been needing is a leader. We just got one. Hoiberg is going to be that leader that we have needed over the past 4 years. The guy coached on the floor when he played and i just think he is going to be great. I think our team will rally around him and we will see a great, great change in Cyclone basketball from here on out. Go Cyclones!

Re: Just so you know, Greg McDermott and Wayne Morgan both had experience

So everyone should hire a head coach that has no previous experience? This hire is a huge risk. If it fails, you can say bye to Pollard.

I could not agree more. I will support the Mayor 100% and hope like hell that this works out but I find it extremely funny that by all appearances JP didn't even look at any more qualified candidates. He did make GT look like a total moron today though. Wow.

A leader who wants to be a Cyclone. Hmmm seems like we've managed to make this work before.

Roy Williams and UNC this year is another great example. His McDonalds All American All Star team didn't even make the Tournament.

As an A.D. How much money do you think this hire will bring in the door at ISU next year?? A ton!!! I have a feeling winning and losing comes 2nd to making money for ISU according to JP.

Pros:
- Increased ticket sales
- Increased home attendance
- Possible re-emergence of Hilton Magic
- Already at rock bottom, can't go any further down
- Retains Assistants

Cons:
- No coaching experience
- Home attendance will decrease in a hurry if we fail to win 10 games next season
- Turned down numerous qualified coaches
- Losing
