Coach Klein head coach of the mud dogs/ thread.
Does he have his manhood back yet though?

My first choice would be go to SMU OC Hal Mumme the innovator of the Air Raid and give him what he wants. Would he leave SMU as OC to become our OC? If Sage could be a QB coach and learn under Mumme that would be fantastic.
Mike Mangino would be an option. Would he leave a head coaching job at Youngstown State?
Who else would be on your wish list and is it likely that we could pull them in?
I think I would also be fine with Chuck Long as OC, but I don't know how that would sit with some Cyclone Fans.
How about the whole Northwest Missouri State staff.
As I stated earlier, Lincoln Riley (OC at Eastern Carolina) would be a great hire if you are looking for a young, talented coach.
Another candidate that i really like is Bob Stitt, head coach of the Colorado School of Mines. (Say What ???) He is an alum of Doane College, in Nebraska. I have linked an article (on Bob Stitt) from USA Today. Bob Stitt's offense: A college football gold mine
Stott looks very interesting.
If Rhoad's style doesn't fit with a great coordinator, he's going to have to get over it. He has had two shots at this. I think herman would be significantly better but he wasn't when he was here and Mess is awful without even having to create his own offense. Rhoads needs to go find a guy to score points. It shouldn't matter how he does it or who scores. You allow him to hire his own supporting staff and give him free reign with no meddling. That's how the offense needs to run when the HC is defensive minded.
Anyone who could give our offense an identity. 5 years of CPR in Ames and what type of offense do we run? Spread? West Coast? Read Option? Pistol? Run-First? Pass-First? Nobody knows. Let's find somebody who can give us an identity. We are the laughing stock in all other circles of the Big 12, who mock ISU's offensive ineptitude. Even in our 6-7 seasons, nothing works consistently, because quite frankly, we don't DO anything consistently. Messingham is flipping through the playbook with his eyes shut, and picks the play he stops at when his eyes open.
Please elaborate on what is wrong with the defensive backs technique?
I tend to agree with Mowilly on this. Under Elliot, I don't remember so many DB's being 1 step behind the receiver and not snapping their heads around to be in position to make a play on the ball. That drives me nuts as a former DB. We have had a LOT pass interference calls ( see Texas) which helped cost us that game. Lack of interceptions this season also, and we've had lots of opportunities for them. At ISU, we have to get every turnover we can to level the playing field. I'm not ready to fire the DB coach, but he needs a good recruiting class and improvement on the field. Tribune is coming along nicely. Give him one more year and ask for more production and evaluate next December, IMO.
I do agree that they have to be doing this and I'm not sure why they are not. That would also lead to more interceptions. I don't think that's a good enough reason to fire Douglas though.
Wasn't CPR the DBs coach his first run at ISU, maybe he could spend a little more time there? I also wonder if Ash was responsible for getting the last group coached up? I know he's been gone a few years, but at least worked w/ LJ, Benton, maybe Reeves.
