I am baffled by Hawks who come to a Cyclone board. I'm not a fan of hockey, so I don't waste my time going to a hockey forum to post. Other than posting that I don't care for hockey, I'm not going to add anything constructive to the conversation. Same goes for Hawkeye fans on this forum. I think people who spend their time posting on a rival's site are deeply insecure.

Having said that, I don't let them get to me, or effect how often I come on here. I've used the ignore function on all the Hawkeye fans I've found, although I'll have to go back through this thread to see if I've missed any.

I hope you don't believe everything you just typed out (in your sweet font) because honestly..........you take message board stuff too seriously and should step back from the computer (slowly)

Dude, we get it. You and you're hawk buddies think we should not take the site to seriously. Well, this is cycloneFANATIC...what the hell do you expect? The problem isn't that we take the site that serious. The problem is when we want a little distraction time from work/home/kids and we light up the computer for some Cyclone talk all we seem to be getting is hawk crap...then we remember when we could go weeks without even a mention of the hawks on this board and it pisses us off.

I'm a Steelers fan, and have been since the mid 80s or so when they were terrible (the Cowboys, incidentally, were also craptacular at that time, despite being coached by the legendary Tom Landry's Hat). Does that mean I'm still a frontrunner and I was just running way out in front of my frontrunnerish team and they finally caught up to my frontrunning, or am I a frontrunner because at one point when I was an infant they were dominant and I simply caught up to them (in the front) but just happened to show up when they were horrible but since they were good before then I still get frontrunner status by virtue of not being from Pennsylvania? And really, unless you're a lifelong fan of say, the Expos/Nats, if you're from a state like Iowa that has no professional sporting teams, wouldn't ANY pro team you root for make you a frontrunner, at least a little bit? Also it kinda sounds like you're trying (and failing, miserably) to quote George Carlin, sort of. I hope he rises from the grave and haunts your kids. Of course, my familiarity with George Carlin probably qualifies me as a frontrunner, as he's very popular and I'm not from NYC and I'm not a professional comedian (I am mostly Irish and was raised Catholic, though - does that count?). I really like "The Office," but never got into it until like, the third season due to work & school schedules, but I like it now. Am I a frontrunner for that? What about the Beatles? Or Led Zeppelin? Hendrix? Huge fan, but they were all technically well before my time. Does that fact, coupled with their immense popularity make me (and tens of millions of other people) a frontrunner? Your points are hilariously imbecilic (or very confusing at best). Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is you are clearly a lower primate and/or have undergone at least a partial lobotomy; and you should definitely continue to post frequently for comic relief.

People who want to challenge their own beliefs by discussing things with people who don't think like them are insecure?

Your example doesn't hold either. It would make sense if you used two hockey teams but I don't think anyone on here doesn't like football, which is what we're talking about most of the time.

Hawkeye fans are coming on here to challenge their own beliefs? I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I'm saying someone must have some strong insecurities to spend hours posting on a rival team's forum. I think that can be said of trolls in general, not just one's involving sports. If you want a rival teams analogy, then OK. I'm certainly not going to go to a Hawkeye forum to talk sports. Why would I unless I was trying to draw attention to myself and trying to be contrary? That has nothing to do with challenging one's own beliefs.

No doubt about it. You have got to be a frontrunner

To be quite honest, there is more discussion on this board about the University of Iowa and their athletics than most Iowa boards.

Isn't it also a sign of insecurity if you have to talk crap about another school in order to make yourself feel better? Not saying you in particular do this, but many on this board do. I think most Iowa fans posting here are respectful enough and aren't complete trolls, but there are exceptions.

I enjoy an outsiders perspective when reading Iowa boards and I think many ISU fans here share the same view. I suspect that is why the In-State Rivals board is such a popular destination!

Let me put it to you this way. In my opinion, the best way to understand anything is to view all sides of the discussion. In this case, Iowa football is the subject. Views from other teams fans, as well as views from from my fellow fans help me to balance out what I think of the Iowa football team.

Not to mention the debates are more lively and more interesting when you're not coming from the same viewpoints.

Hmm... Can someone please publish the "hawk ignore list"... I think cyclonestate78 is keeping it up... Maybe there should be a thread stickied in the rivals forum. That way we can always keep a Hawk discussion going.

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

I don't mind a little level-headed Hawk talk. The problem is, it's hard to find that sort of discussion...especially on a rival's message board of all places. Call me crazy, but I don't come to CF for the latest Iowa news. If I want a Hawk point of view, I go to their message board. I rarely post, if ever because I know how I would be received over there no matter how nice I play. Some people will hate me just because I'm a Cyclone fan.

The same goes for over here. There's a lot of blind hatred on both sides, probably more than either side would be willing to admit. Like a lot of people on here, I don't ever like seeing Iowa win, but I don't hate everything that even remotely has to do with the Hawks. Some people on here do...and on a CYCLONE message board, I'm fine with those fans sharing their views, no matter how disturbed and filled with hate they are. I would also like it if the Hawk fans could see these posters as what they are, and refrain from putting their 2 cents in to e-defend the honor of their team. You know you won't be able to get the crazy posters to change their mind or even see your side of things, so it's best to just let them vent in their little piece of Cyclone Heaven.

Problem--ISU plays Iowa, ISU is in Iowa. We should be able to discuss this as cyclone fans......but the hawk trolls here can't stand that some people in this state may not like their team. Solution? Go to your hawk boards to discuss hawks. You'll still get cyclone talk---just not with the ******* match from cyclone fans.

I see, so what you're saying is, you're OK with Iowa discussion, as long as it takes place in a negative tone against the Hawks? Otherwise, it's unacceptable?

Dude, it's not a hard concept. Talk about the Hawks, you attract Hawkeye fans. Talk about the Clones, you attract ISU fans. Iowa fans are here not because there is the occasional dig about Iowa sports, but rather because almost every thread is turned into Iowa discussion by ISU fans.

Seriously, I challenge you to go through as many threads as you please, and take a tally at how many fans of each team starts the ******** match. Yes, you're right, this is an ISU board, but "if you talk about them, they will come..."

Good post.
It's about the same as conversation in person. I have Hawk fans around me at work and wherever that can converse with a give-and-take each way, and those conversations are enjoyable for everyone involved. I have Hawk fans around me that can't accept that ISU has ever done anything, especially after we defeat them. Those guys are so one-sided that you can't have a two-way conversation anyway, so I don't waste my time.

Same thing here. Some guys can have a good discussion, so they're not a problem. Ignore the ones that can't and move on.

Then we can get back to discussing that move to the MAC.:jimlad:

Yes, please. If everyone would just stop posting in this thread it would soon fall off the page and be done with. Please stop replying to this. :skeptical:
