Gameday can't get here soon enough! Any early thoughts on the conference opener?

Yeah, bring the pain. Hopefully it won't be too great.

You never know.

It does pay off down the road. Just being in the court and competing against an obviously superior physical team pays dividends in the 1st and 2nd round of the tourney.

And, not to jinx us any, but last year, we almost won (at home, first game, iirc). Later in the year, down there, they got us pretty bad.

I don't know, baylor hasn't been great this year. At home, we got a punchers chance.

Just from limited watching and checking box scores….they beat ucla, zags, wsu, somehow got smoked by Marquette and lost by 7 to uva. They are carried by guards Cryer, Flagler and George. Not a lot of scoring inside as Thamba is not a threat unless you let him push you around. I think we have a legit shot if we can make things tough on their guards. Flagler is having a B12 poy type season, hitting over 50% from 3. We lose if he goes off. Absolutely cannot lose him or help off of him.

Don't know if we can beat Baylor, but I'm sure of two things.

1. Our effort will be off the charts.

2. Baylor has not faced a defense like they're gonna face on Saturday.

Last year, we marched through the non conference schedule undefeated and then got gut punched in the early conference season. It's gonna be really difficult, but I'm hoping we can avoid the gut punch this time around.

They have played Virginia and UCLA both really good defenses.

Yes, very true but it was almost guaranteed to happen.

Baylor is not invincible. Like us, they're 0-1 on the road so far this season. They got spanked at Marquette 96-70. I know the unranked Marquette team is pretty decent, but that's a head scratcher.
