I agree with the op. Would be great to have them back. Don't know how much of the crowd following was due to it being a tournament game, but if they are that passionate about women's b-ball it would be great to have them come back during the regular season.

Team style made for an entertaining game and the fan passion was great.

All I know is that it was funny. Lots of booing for no reason. No biggie...it was fun, I just get annoyed at people who boo just to conform. The crowd was into it and that's a good thing.

I'm with ya cydkar - I was laughing too. Along with the booing was heard some incredible comments pointed towards the refs and their player(s) from our fans. Distasteful/disgraceful. I thought the game was called evenly. Heck, remember the 1st half and how many fouls THEY had? How soon was ISU in the bonus? And yet our crowd boos the refs.

Foul wasn't called on baseline move. Almost exactly like the UNI-KU game that one of the UNI players went toward the baseline to get away from the double-team press on the inbounds at KU's end and stepped out of bounds. We all called a foul on one of the twins that helped him out. The girls game was almost the same play and it was on the same part of the floor at the end of the game. Same call both times.

It was a bad play on GBs part. She got herself stuck in the corner and tried to force her way out by driving the baseline. Alison did a great job. The ref was looking right down on the line and saw her toe touch it, it happened when she first started to drive not later so there wasn't a lot of contact. Watch the replay. She had nowhere to go.

BINGO!!!! I was the usher behind the Wis-GB Bench and she went out of bounds right away. Aus was in great position and the GB girl had nowhere to go but out.

As far as the fans of GB. Great bunch of people. By far the best of any fans who came into Hilton this past year. Very happy to be playing in Ames and they all said what a great place we have. They have a 4000 seat arena that gets half filled on a good night. Most of the men greeted me with a hand shake and the ladies with a smile and a hello.

Now that mascot was a totally different story. I'll leave it at that! :biglaugh:

GB played incredible defense to start the game but with that came a lot of fouls. The refs were making good calls but how dare they call a foul on ISU?! I didn't hear comments but there were times when I wondered what GB players/fans must think about us. Passionate but a little "off" would be my guess.

Regarding that call-That call is made 99% of the time. When there is a consequence to not making the call such as going out of bounds they always make that call. I though it was a fouls but there are times when it is not and get's called. I just thought it was weird that it wasn't called.

When I watched it on replay, it looked like the right call. Their girl barely stepped out of bounds right before Lacey bumped her. I think if she would have kept that foot in bounds, it would have been a foul.

If anything I think we were the beneficiaries of some bad calls.

ISU had its share of bad fans, to a level I have not heard.

Loud fan right behind us, yelling both nights, anger, venom.

Over the top Tuesday as he saw 42 taking the girls to the woodshed.

More than once he loudly yelled "Hurt her", or "Take her out", then "Get the knee"

Wow, embarrassing for us as ISU. Total POS

Even the Hawk fan sitting with us found it to be bad taste

He was shut down quickly by the little grandmother beside us (who knew her basketball), who turned a couple of times for the dirty look, then gave him the star of elders death when he started with the crap above.

She pretty much shut him down.

I disagree with the idea that there needs to be an even number of fouls called, and if there are that is good officiating. If one team has the strategy of holding posts, screeners and cutters, and bumping the arm on every shot, and the other team has the strategy of not fouling and giving up free throws, why would there be an even number of fouls?
I agree it hurts our credibility when some people whine and yell about every call that goes against us, and that goes up during tournament time.
Alison played textbook defense on the last call, and deserved the turnover.
