I think Iowa is due for a massive fall. They lucked into this year. Could have easily gone 6-6 and would be looking for a new coach. Their recruiting has been abysmal for years. This has to be the last year they take the Iowa corn fed kids. Time to get a pipeline directly to Ames for all good Iowa HS kids. We've proven we can get the skill positions. Now we need the big uglies.

Wut?

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4530856/zach-dykstra Zach Dykstra Jr. Tackle/DE from Spirit Lake. This kid should be in the top 5! He played against both Wirfs and Harris in the state quarter finals and finals and did a great job. Check him out in the Hudl video against Harris (#51 Black Jersey). He was not intimidated by either Harris or Wirfs. I would take him over Harris for sure. Very similar to Wirfs in size. Great foot work, dominating blocker, and aggressive down field. Campbell and his staff need to take a look.

Glad to see we offered yesterday! Stay on him as more P5 offers will now be coming his way. Congratulations Zach! Now come join the good guys!

MC will be meeting with Beyer in Cedar Rapids today. Sounds like he has been VERY aggressive in pursuit of this kid. Must see something he really likes. Get him flipped MC!

There is a -10% chance of this happening.

Just -10%? I doubt hed be willing to meet with him if there wasn't at least a slight chance he could be persuaded.

Does this quote sound like he can be persuaded.

“I’ve tried to be as respectful as I can and everything (to Campbell), but he really wants me and he wants to meet with me (Thursday) and tell me what their program has to offer and what kind of player I can be for them,â€￾ Beyer said. “But I’m more excited to meet with coach Ferentz and (assistant) coach (Reese) Morgan on Friday.â€￾

Lombardi will not get an Iowa offer from what I have heard. His father is extremely hard to deal with. His father was run out of Washington hs in CR. He burned so many bridges with people in the eastern part of the state I would be shocked if he were to get an offer.

His father is an *******. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

No, but this is time well spent for Campbell if he wants to get Iowa HS coaches attention. Big picture - Campbell showing that this kids HS program matters to him even if ISU doesn't matter to the kid.

Yes. He could literally tell him "dont visit me, there is no chance". Instead, he will visit with MC. Tells me he is leaving the door open (slightly).

Would this count as "feverish?"

Go look at Iowa Recruiting rankings over the last 4 years. I'm not saying we are better, but we aren't much worse. They overachieved this year. Big time. It won't last. And MC needs to be ready to strike.
Step on their throats?

Beyer's mother has also been quoted as saying he's a Hawkeye forever. Kudos to your new coach for being aggressive and for introducing himself on the eastern side of the state. There is no downside to him visiting Beyer.

Does this mean KF gets to make a big deal out of it on signing day? (sorry, couldn't resist).

I wonder if KF's age will start to catch up with him on the recruiting trail. He'll be what, 66 when the 2017 class are RS seniors? Have to think there is a good chance he won't be there for their senior season. I'm thinking some programs (probably B10 programs) will start negatively recruiting against Iowa on that basis soon.

I suppose it could, but really, as the longest-tenured coach in FBS (along with Stoops), KF can say I have the track record of being in one place. If a player's decision comes down to which of the coaches at programs the kid is considering will be there through his whole college career, KF wins that argument every time. He's 60 years old now, but not an "old" 60. He takes care of himself and has plenty of energy to do the job. I doubt he's going to be like Snyder and coaching when he's 76. If I were to make a guess, he'll stick around until he's 67-70 years old, somewhere in that timeframe.

As others have said, if he continues to have success, KF will get a lot of input on the succession plan.

Cool story,

Mods could we please tighten up the threads in the Football forum?

Trolls, there is a place for you...it's called In State Rivals. Go there and doosh away.

Not one word of this post has anything to do with ISU Football recruiting. Mods, please...

Well, he could/would be putting his time into recruits that are actually considering us. It's a longer shot - I acknowledge that. But crazier **** has happened.

I see nothing wrong with his post in regards to an Iowa Hawkeye commit.
