Bumping this thread.
I’ve now have had two spells of abdominal pain in the last month. Both after over-eating. I try to fast until dinner a few days a week and I though the pain was from just being too full. Someone told me about gallbladder issues and I’m convinced this is the issue. Planning on going to the doctor next week, I don’t feel like it is something I need to go to urgent care for.

If anyone has experience with having their gallbladder removed or dealing with gallstones please let me know.
Lol nice timing had mine removed today. Have some pain but nothing Oxycodone and some muscle relaxant can’t fix.

I would have pain on the right side just below the lowest rib. Typically after eating any type of food. Turns out I had a stone and some polyps for good measure.

it will take some time to truly see if the pain is gone after I fully recover in 2-3 weeks.

If it happens again, try to take note of what you ate, if you had pain or any other symptoms and the location of pain/boating, etc.

Gallbladder issues will typically be upper right - put your fist at the lowest end of your sternum and slide it to the right. That's approximately where the gallbladder is. You can also have pain in the upper right shoulder area and between the shoulder blades. Nausea, pain & bloating are common signs that accompany gallbladder issues. Vomiting, fever and chills can also happen. It could be gall stones or sludge in the gall bladder. The stones could be in the gall bladder or blocking the duct.

Glad you're getting it checked out.

There's a chance the doctor may order an UGI in addition to the Ultrasound. (If they do & schedule both for the same day, make sure the ultrasound is done first.) It's pretty easy. It's done use fluoroscopy (x-ray video). The X-ray tech will give you barium to drink (white substance that has consistency similar to a thin shake, though it may be a little chalky-ish). (They may also give you a fizzy drink in a small dixie cup and tell you it might make you feel like you need to burp, but don't. It helps put gas in the stomach, which actually helps make the exam better) The radiologist will watch the barium as you swallow and will follow it down in to the stomach. After you've finished, they have you roll from side to side (coats the stomach & gives different views of stomach). He'll keep watching until the barium begins to leave the stomach and enters the small intestine.

Radical or single side? Why not a chest tube?
Single side.

it happened twice. First one, my senior year in college, I had a chest tube. Then it deflated again 3 months later after I graduated. This was 20+ years ago, even a couple years later they would have done a thoracoscopy.

ironically I had an appendectomy about weeks after that post.

Interesting. I didn’t realize how old this thread was.

After running around Macfarland like a mad man we have come to the conclusion that I need my gallbladder out. Not happy about it but they assured me that this is the best option. Everything happened really fast and I’ll have it out on Tuesday.

You'll be happy about it after the recovery. No more pain after eating. Hopefully you'll be the lucky type that doesn't have to watch what you eat (or proximity to a toilet seat).
