Looking at installing carpet in my basement. Beaver system is installed so basement is dry.

Current carpet is just glued to the floor (no pad). I want to replace it with new along with carpet pad and I'm wondering what the best way to install my carpet to concrete. Would I still use carpet tack strips around the edge? Glue?

Any help from the pros is appreciated.

Tack strip with concrete nails (glue the tack strip too if the concrete is suspect)

Would it be easier to pre-drill a pilot hole for the nail or is that not necessary.

Also, should I glue the pad? I was planning on it.

Just had someone put carpet in our basement last fall, and I think they used a little wider tack strip with concrete fasteners. They also glued down the tack strips. Other than that, no difference.

glue the pad too. just a strip of liquid nails every 18" or so. as the other poster stated, nail & glue the tack strip, then install carpet normally.

Concrete seems to be in good shape.

Thanks Everyone.

Basically what I thought, just wondered if there was any other quick/simple ideas.

Really appreciate it.
