I definitely agree that Nebraska might feel "their brand" has not grown or benefited from the Big 10 move, but I don't believe for one second that it means they want to return to the Big 12.

Realignment which was not done as well as it could have, has tarnished the Big 10 a bit. Nebraska was a good FB addition. However watering down everyone's home schedules with Rutgers, Purdue, Indiana, and Illinois the last few years has hurt the league. Iowa had a dog of a home slate last year, and Nebraska's is nearly as bad. Pitt was pretty much Iowa's marquee home game last year. Last time I checked, Pitt is not in the Big 10. Oregon played that role for Nebraska this year. On the flip side Iowa gets Wisconsin, Michigan, and NU this year so it evens out, but Iowa will probably have a horrendous home slate again next year.

I do think NU fans would not admit it, but deep down they probably miss the villains in the Big 12. The evil Texas empire, the historic rivalry with OU, the pain in the ass Bill Snyder led Cats, those wacky Tech offenses. Things were chippy between the NU and other Big 12 fanbases. Who besides Iowa does the average Nebraska fan REALLY want to put a whoopin' on?? Maybe Wisconsin? They probably don't give a rats pajamas about NW, Purdue, Illinois, and Indiana this year.

Huck the Fuskers. That being said, if it means stability let them back. Then they can be mediocre in our conference.

I used to have the same outlook and concern as Beyerball. Then I came to the realization that ISU is and will always be the top Ag and Vet Med school in the land. We are very strong in some of our other academic programs as well. Will being in a lesser conference stink, yes. Will it dramatically reduce enrollment, probably not. Does it make me love my wife and kids less, no. Is it disappointing, sure. In the end I think our government will get involved and then who knows what happens. The B1G needs the Hoks and that helps Iowa State if things fall apart.

Knowing these slick salesman, Nebby is acting like they wanna come back to the Big12. OU feigns outrage and leaves....then the Fuskers back out and say oops we don't wanna move and OU is in the Big10 the following year.

I always thought the big 12 should have kicked texas in the first place. if you think about it, keep nebby and a&m. Would have been a stronger conference. Plus the big12 would have gotten their own network. Being on the outside of all of this, I always wondered how concrete the pac 12's offer was for Texas. And I dont know if they could have held it together if they booted Texas, but I still feel if they could have, the conference would have ended up stronger.

I would still like to know what benefit Houston brings the current members of the conference. How many people are suddenly going to be more interested in the conference with the addition of Houston? This does next to nothing in terms of TV money. So if Houston becomes a long term power it probably just happens by taking recruits from the other Texas schools. A Texas-centric conference already collapsed because it couldn't get a TV deal.

Exactly the same thingt people said about Louisville. Oops.
