Was browsing the Iowa forums to see the dumpster fire after their loss yesterday, and I came across this thread: https://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/threads/iowa-and-iowa-state.84987/

Interesting discussion about how Campbell is going to go to Ohio State after Urban Meyer retires...They know he's building something special here(and Ferentz is sinking the ship over there) and they're definitely scared of him and want to see him gone. Just thought I'd share it here

Salty hoks are triggered that their big brother is more relevant than they are both in CFB and MBB/WBB/Wrestling.

Maybe Adam Donglebury can come back as coach and their MBB team more of a joke than it already is (one can hope).

This post I found over there says a lot about the evolution of the fan base for the TOE. I see it more and more.....We as ISU fans are all used to wearing our nut cups and still keep them handy just in case.......humility goes a long way in the evolution of a fan base like ISU has. WE need to keep humble.... but if you don't..............this post from TOE.

"I wouldn't say laughingstock, but Iowa has gone about it in multiple ways, including in no small part thanks to our wondeful fanbase to get people who would normally otherwise not care about Iowa.....to root against Iowa any given Saturday, especially when we play teams like Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, etc and even Iowa State.

Alabama fans cared enough to root for Iowa State against Iowa this year. I watched them do it. I could name dozens of fanbases that just don't prefer us being successful.

We can't really say "they hate us cuz they ain't us" like the wrestling fans do, either, because we're not even in the same universe as the wrestling program.

Whether its Kirk or Iowa rubbing people the wrong way, or outsiders just wanting an underdog playing Iowa to win or because they need them to win....or because our fans ran their mouthes for no reason, Iowa has attracted a lot of people that are just fine with seeing us wallow in 7 win purgatory with bad losses each and every year.

Very few people outside the Iowa fanbase have any sympathy for us anymore, and it was not always that way.

And if any of you are fine with this then that's another indicator that there is a big problem.

Iowa and our fanbase has reached the "lived long enough to see ourselves become the villain" stage.

And that wasn't how it was suppose to be.

Anyone who thinks Campbell will leave before Brock Purdy does is nuts. Win at Iowa State and Campbell gets the credit. And today with social media you don’t have to be in a media center. Look at the recognition Iowa State and Campbell are getting now. THIS is Campbell’s program. Go to a blue blood and the coach doesn’t get the credit so much for winning. You are supposed to win.
Ohio State can offer a lot more money than Iowa State can. I hope Campbell stays too, but definitely not nuts to think if he gets an offer too difficult to turn down back in his home state he won't turn it down.

And the hilarious part is, there's some 12 year old kid on there with the username KFerentz posing as the coach. Ok kid, yeah you're believable. lol. I never understand all these fake celebrity accounts. Do people have this much time on their hands to pose as someone else? Although, hard to argue the funny take of Ya Boy Matt Campbell.

I am not worried at all if Urban retires. If CMC wants to go, all the best to him, if he stays: it'll be great. Right now, we don't know what's on his mind (other than how to beat Texas).
I would trust JP that he always has a contingency plan if any of our coach leaves.
Even if he goes, he has proven that it is possible to win in Ames.

They are hoping that happens. I just hope ISU pulls out every stop we can to keep him. He will be a god here if he stays.

He can win conference titles at ISU we are showing that right now. He can recruit to ISU he is showing that right now. I am hoping Majors and Bruce had conversations with him about how special Ames is.
That would be really spectacular if Earl Bruce rose from the dead to have a conversation with him about how special Ames is.

Why did CMC leave Toledo? Why did he choose ISU? I think he's here for a while. And if he isn't we get a large check when he does. My prayer is that CMC is our Ferentz, Snyder, Bowden, etc.

But, Jamie now knows the formula that works at ISU for a winning program. I'm more nervous if Jamie leaves before Matt does. Jamie was learning his position when he hired Chizik. He hired who he needed with CPR. But he has seen Mac, Chizik, CPR and now CMC and knows the University much better now.

Look at the group of coaches we have in place now. Golf, Track, Swimming/Diving, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball, BB, FB, WR. Such a family of coaches. Look at the facilities. Look at the fan support. Why would either leave Ames while they have kids at home?

I would bet plenty of money, that little to no research was done to come up with those odds. Campbell said he wouldn't even talk to Jamie about his extension until the season was over. Does anyone really think he would be talking OSU? No 't' because that's stupid.
This is as much about Jamie as it is about Matt. Jamie has had a long standing policy of evaluating the season and working on contracts after the season is over. I think the only times this hasn't held is when he has decided to make a change (see Danny Mac and Rhoads) and pulled the plug early to get a head start on a head coach search.

Not that it really matters, but former ISU AD Gene Smith is the AD at Ohio State.... another local connection there.
