Nick Babb will be one to watch over the summer if he continues to show improvement in his game like this past weekend. He's got offers from Wichita St, Creighton, Richmond, UT-A, Lehigh & Oral Roberts. Iowa St, Kansas St, OU, Boise St & Tulsa have shown interest thus far on a list that is sure to grow.

I feel like Babb could be one of those guys who goes and plays at OU or something (without much fanfare), and then drives us crazy for four years.

My college roommate's girlfriend at the time babysit for (allegedly) Cato's kid. I'm not sure if he really was Cato's kid or not. The kid was 3 or 4 years old and like 5 ft tall, though. He'd be about 18 now...

I have helped watch his kid on a few occasions as well when I was living in Ames. Had some friends from work that were good friends with his mom. This was back around 2002 or so (man thinking back about college always makes me feel old) He was a really tall kid back then

If he plays defense like his brother, we should offer him.

Not slamming you Wesley, but I can understand why many legacy players opt to go somewhere else to play. It probably isn't as big of a deal for the kids of players where the Mom or Dad was a role player or they played in a different sport. However if Mom or Dad was a star it probably makes it tough to live up the expectations that are heaped on a kid. It is probably just as tough if a sibling played and was very successful at the school. Nick is what, 3 inches shorter than Chris? He is still being expected by many to at minimum meet the standards set by his brother. That is a lot of pressure to put on an incoming freshman. Chris Babb even couldn't have met those expectations when he was a freshman.

Nick is now nearly the same height as Chris (he is 6'4"), and there are not many recruits that would view a program/fanbase having high expectations for him as a freshman as a bad thing.

Eric Bossi on Nic:
"Some of his coaches like to call him Babb Island because of his ability to defend in space, and there is no doubt that junior shooting guard Nick Babb has potential on the defensive end. But, the three-star from Arlington (Texas) Martin is no slouch on the offensive end either. On Saturday, he came up big when Texas Select needed him.
A confident shooter, Babb has easy range past the 3-point line and is a solidly built kid. The younger brother of Iowa State shooting guard Chris Babb, he is a confident and competitive kid who also does many of the little things that his team needs from him. Each summer a sleeper starts emerging from the Dallas area and if Babb continues to play like he did on Saturday, then he could see things pick up significantly.
According to Babb he already has offers from Creighton, Wichita State and Rice while Oklahoma, Lehigh, North Texas, Iowa State, UT Arlington, Richmond, Tulsa and Kansas State are monitoring his progress."

From NY2LASPORTS:

Babb put together a big second half for Texas Select to help them surpass the Houston Defenders in the 17U semifinals. Babb was terrific taking his man off the dribble, slashing to the basket, and even knocked in a couple 3-pointers. Babb scored a team-high 16 points in the win.

We have lots of shooters, but good defenders work too. I still think brother Chris had as much to do with our winning games as the thuglifes did. Chris was underrated part of our team.

IMO, I think it would be a special thing to bring in family to previous players as long as they are D1 level players. And to be honest, I don't want to throw away my Babb Island posters :)
Next up, little Clyburn and little Ejim. Hopefully they take strides in the coming year(s) and we can get them all :)
Does Korie have a little bro? :p

Sounds like Babb might be the only one with a realistic shot out of the current brothers. Not a slam against Babb at all, but I think we are going to be in on a few great prospects and might not have room for him. I wouldn't be upset if we had to "fall back" on him assuming he keeps progressing... But I think we are ready to start bringing in the elite talent. I just hope Vaughn is the first of many.

thuglifes? Regardless of some of the histories of the players, I thought all our players last year upheld themselves very well, even through some tough adversity at times. I was very proud of our entire team and how they acted for the most part, all the way from Korie to Booker. I think throwing out "thuglifes" is a little disrespectful and uncalled for with any of them after giving us all they had.

Maybe it's a good sign we are picking up bandwagoners who don't even know all the way back to the Chrstopherson era lol

Cool down man. I wasn't flipping out. Simply pointing out that it was Scott's nickname and not whipping out useless stupid profanity would have been adequate. When you talk like that, all you come off as is the exact words you are using. If the nickname is true and that is what he was referring to, then that is fine and it isn't disrespectful. Guess I didn't realize it was super common knowledge that is what his nickname was. I apologize.

You know, Clyburn has brothers. I think one is playing here in Iowa somewhere.

Shoot, we've got brothers galore between Babb, Clyburn and Ejim. If I had to throw out an over/under out there of some brother being on our team in the next few years, I'd put it at one.

I knew Christopherson was referred to as "thuglife" by some, but read it again. It doesn't sound like he is talking about SC. I think you were right in calling him out.
