Iowa board response when Purdue fan asked about cyclones

For any Temple fans coming to this board, let me offer my review of Iowa:

Mostly average offensive players, except in spurts by the skeleton and the little shooting guard that was so bad last year he went into WitPro and changed jersey #'s, and they don't bother to score much in the final five minutes of games. They only run 6 deep and are often too tired to make layups late in games. Their roster is mostly white guys who weren't good enough to be on other teams or transfered from other schools where they didn't play, a tradition embraced by Iowa fans and coaches alike. Their team leader is Sloth from the Goonies, who has racked up over 100 career jump-ball arm grabs and not much else while going 4-34 on dunks inside two feet in his career. He acts like an idiot and may try to poke his opponent's eyes or shush his own crowd. Their old coach quit after being so terrible that the Iowa AD picked a guy from Sienna that has one tournament win over Davidson in the six years since, and after correctly not being ranked to start the year, they finished by losing 6 of 8, including a loss to 13-19 Illinois to be knocked out of the Big 10 tournament for the fourth straight year in the first round. It was also the first-ever loss by a 5 seed to a 12 in the Big 10 tournament. Being in the Big 10 is the only reason they aren't a 16 seed. Temple will be the best team they've played in months, and Temple should win by 20+.

Their mascot is supposedly a hawk, although if you look at it, its clearly Zach McCabe inside that suit because you know nobody else is employing that **** right now.

2/5 but B+ for effort.

Yeah, and Purdue's in the Big 10, they should know they wouldn't get a smart response from an Iowa fan.

Also, the entire response was stupid (and mostly expected), but really? we're quitters? If cyclones fans were actually quitters, there wouldn't be any cyclone fans left.

I remember a game where we were down 20 in the 2nd half and didn't quit. I seem to recall us winning that game. Way to quit fellas!

Remember, Purdue was declared the "rival" of Iowa back before this current pile of **** version of the Big Ten happened.

Great offensive players, don't bother to play much defense. They only run 6 deep and are often too tired to keep fighting late in games. Their roster is mostly transfers who quit on other teams, an attitude embraced by Cyclone fans and coaches alike. Their team leader is Georges Niang, who has racked up over 2000 career points while giving up over 3500. He acts like an idiot and may try to grab his opponent's genitals. Their old coach quit after losing to UAB, and after being a top 5 preseason team, they finished this year 10-10. Being in the Big 12 is the only reason they aren't a 9 seed. Purdue will be the most physical team they've played in months, and should win by 20+.

Their mascot is supposedly a cyclone, although if you look at it, its clearly a bird trapped in a cyclone. They proudly wear the colors of McDonalds/ketchup and mustard.

Has everybody lost their sense of humor? That's a relatively accurate description of this ISU team veiled in contemptuous language, except for the part about Purdue being the most physical team we've seen in months (hello, WVU!!!) and Purdue prevailing by 20+. We do love transfers! Georges is offensively gifted and a defensive sieve! Assuming we lost 11 games in a less competitive conference, we might have been a 9 seed. Fred did leave after losing to UAB. Stop being so serious and enjoy the humor!

Herkster, If you're not careful you may become an accepted poster like Anti, Split, Gonzo, and TM.

Herkster's preferable to some of those but then, he wasn't around here to make a jackarse of himself during football season.

I can return, in say....October, and make an *** out of myself (I do it quite often in real life, why not on the internet?!), if that pleases the masses!
But then again, someone will just mention ISU's football record when competing with Iowa, and I'd have to shut up. So, I don't think I'll be doing that any time soon!

I root for the other Iowa teams because my family are all Hawkeye fans and I have always liked UNI for whatever reason. I went to HN a few times and will not go back because that site makes me HATE Iowa.

Then you should go there more often. Rooting for Iowa is evil.

Well when football rolls around, in sort of the words of Steve Prohm's favorite, don't go changing, to try and please gonzo, you never let us down before.

It'll be an interesting matchup. Iowa State will have to find a way to get Purdue's bigs out of the game as much as possible. The good thing is that Purdue's guard play is not strong at all, so ISU should be able to pack it in zone to help shut down Hammons and Co. on the offensive end. When ISU has the ball, it'll be fun to watch Purdue's perimeter defense try to stop Morris and Niang. Assuming Purdue puts Raphael Davis on Niang, that'll be one of the best matchups of the entire tournament (only when ISU has the ball, though; Davis isn't good offensively and Niang isn't a defensive stalwart).

A lot will come down to tempo. If ISU can dictate a fast game, they'll have a clear advantage. If it gets more bogged down in the half court, that'll level the playing field some.

No worries there, and I have no idea who Gonzo is, so I'm a bit confused! I don't like trolling forums, but I do enjoy reading all the Iowa hate here. Makes me chuckle a bit.

I've lived in Iowa City for eighteen years, so I can confirm it goes both ways. As I grabbed my morning coffee, no fewer than three adult males greeted me with "Go Iona". We're rivals - that's how it's supposed to be.

Having said that, I must be softening in my old age, as I find myself rooting for the four native Iowans in your starting lineup. I'm even liking Woodbury these days, now that he no longer cheats on jump balls or gouges eyes! I won't cry in my beer if you lose, but I'm not actively supporting the fighting Bill Cosby's either....

You must have not watched Woodbury much this year...

Oh, I get it's a rivalry, and it's fun to give the other teams fans a hard time, but being db's about it (both Iowa and ISU fans) is a bit nuts. I pull for ISU, just like I do Iowa.
