So on roster they have:
Lainez who was buried on the depth chart last year...BEHIND Hill
A crippled McNamara who still doesn't seem comfortable on his leg
A so-called, "Tommy Poholsky"

Woof
Lainez was a true FR but he showed a lot more ability than Hill in the very brief time he got. He’s still not a great qb2 option yet.

Ahh but this is where your wrong. There is no more B1G west

Conference schedule isn't that much tougher than last year. Newcomers, Washington and UCLA, both with new staffs. Washington lost 40 players from last years team (~19 starters).

Lainez got more reps with the 2’s and 3’s than Hill got with 1’s. This also ensures they’ll be getting a qb in the portal. It’s hard to imagine that option would be worse than Hill.
There are very few left in the top 300 available transfers...

Jaden Rashada, Arizona State
Jacurri Brown, Miami
Jacolby Criswell, Arkansas
Nick Evers, Wisconsin
Collin Schlee, UCLA

It's as soft as we'll likely get in the new B1G but still tougher than B1G West.
agree with you there. ISU has no room to throw stones on the schedule now.
Now that I look at this, I see more 7-8 wins. and that is even without playing USC, Penn State, Michigan or Oregon.

of course Iowa's luck would probably see all the new West Schools turn into a glorified Nebraska due to the change of conference.

That is why these new leagues suck balls. How do you really know who is the best team when you don't play half the league?

Ill State
ISU
Troy
@Minny
@OSU
Wisconsin
Edit: Washington
@MSU
NW
@UCLA
@Maryland
Nebraksa

But if Cade M goes out again, they are going to be very limited. But honestly losing Hill isn't that big of deal other than depth.

Washington is in there somewhere, I believe.

Deacon was a 4-star by most services and clear cut #2.

Last year they got Marco Lainez III (3 star) that had a bit more competition (Louisville, West Virginia, Pitt). Looked pretty terrible though.

View attachment 128109
Lainez (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) led his school to 9-0 records in 2021 and 2022. Last year, he completed 77.6 percent of his passes for 2,182 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 573 yards and five scores. In 2021, he completed 80.2 percent for 1,761 yards, 21 touchdowns and two interceptions. In addition, Lainez ran for 451 yards and two scores.

This year they got James Resar (2 star) with Georgia Southern and Florida A&M being the other main competition. Actually, he doesn't appear on the Hawk website.

Tommy Poholsky (0 star) walk-on with offers from CSU Pueblo, DePauw, and Denison, all D3 programs.

Looks like they've got Jimmy Sullivan (2-star) next year with the below HS stats (not real impressive)...

In nine games as a senior, Sullivan completed 54 percent of his passes for 1,508 yards and 18 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He added 406 yards and five scores rushing, according to MaxPreps.
Not sure where you are seeing James Resar was a 2 *. 4* by 247 and 3 star by Rivals with 5 P5 offers. Not defending the current QB situation but seems you're being pretty disingenuous in this case. Resar appears to be a pretty decent recruit. How he's developed remains to be seen.

Resar was a 4 star also had offers from Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, NC, and Indiana.

Sullivan also is a 3 star.

I'll update the post, it wasn't on purpose. I did quick searches as I knew nothing about their commits. Any idea why he doesn't show on their roster?

Actually, 247 has the following for Resar...

Rivals has him as a 3-star as well with the same offer list.

Same with ESPN.

Brennan Sullivan might be someone to watch. There are going to be more this week as everyone sees where they are on their respective depth charts.

Yeah, it's open until the 30th so wouldn't be surprised to see some others enter as the find out their spot on the depth chart.

Again disingenuous. 247 has him as 4* at a 90 rating but you know that already as your crop job indicates. Iowa hasn’t had a 2 star at any position since 2018, Seth Benson and Riley Moss, who both made it to the NFL. Benson has been released from Denver though.

Are there any respectable qbs who haven't found their landing spot yet?

If I'm reading correctly there's another week on this portal window. I'm guessing you could have some guys come out of Spring Ball as a backup that want to move on or something. Who knows...

His composite is 3-star and they are the only service with him at a 4-star so it would be considered a statistical outlier when the other 4 services all show 3-star.

Who cares how he is rated now? There is a natural regression that occurs in a KF offense. Joe labas was a 4 star as well. How did that work out for UI?

He also had offers from North Carolina and Wake Forest fwiw. He's not listed on the Iowa roster because he's not on the Iowa roster. He's a senior in high school.
