What do you mean it doesn't work?It doesn't work. We have to hope we can keep up in recruiting without big NIL deals.

There are some great pre med programs like what you are suggesting where if you enroll in a program and meet all the standards you can get into med school either early or by skipping the MCAT. 3+4 programs are the most common version of this but they usually work within the same school.Part of the problem also stems from we do have grads who make good money, but their professions also have a tendency to make them cheaper also. Engineers, farmers, Vets, and such typically aren't big donors until later if life, if they are. Whereas lawyers, dentists and doctors seem to be better donors. We do have a few that are pre-med and it would probably be good if we found a way to partner with DM university and have a pre-med program set up to increase your likelihood of acceptance to them.

Up until the U of I got beat on by the Regents, they had a tendency to favor out of state students for the med school. Not sure if they leaning more with Iowa students or not, just know the past. The nice thing about Des Moines University is they don't have athletics. So it's not like that 4 year ISU student going 4 years to Iowa then and saying I'm going to donate to both athletics. You have a singular athletic program. There are some great pre med programs like what you are suggesting where if you enroll in a program and meet all the standards you can get into med school either early or by skipping the MCAT. 3+4 programs are the most common version of this but they usually work within the same school.
It is depressing how far down the totem pole Iowa State is in terms of offering programs that can be leveraged into high paying careers. Iowa has a lot of the same programs ISU offers, plus the med school and law school. How is that fair? I get that we live in a state that is somewhat sparsely populated with 2 large public university's and a 3rd smaller one, and only so many programs can be offered and only so many students to attend. But still, frustrating that Iowa gets to have the healthier side of the imbalance.
NIL has legal limits in Michigan correct? No one really knows what going on with this. Since its not in the institution getting access to records is going to be tough. The football crazed southern schools seem way ahead on this compared to northern universities.Just want to point out that Michigan doesn’t really do NIL, didn’t know Nebraska had much of a fund either.
Filling your institution with out of state tuition students while still begging for the large grant from the state was simply pushing up that revenue. It was a sham, and it worked due to Iowa institutions having such a lower tuition scale than surrounding states. It was cheaper for Minnesota students to pay OOS tuition at ISU than go the the University of Minnesota in the early 2000s.Up until the U of I got beat on by the Regents, they had a tendency to favor out of state students for the med school. Michigan and Ohio State have been buying players for years, regardless of NIL.NIL has legal limits in Michigan correct? No one really knows what going on with this. Compared to P5 schools, we are near the very bottom still. When JTS was built, if you donated for the build, you didn't have to donate again for your seats. There were people sitting 50 yard line just paying for their tickets for 30 years or so. Terrible idea and thankfully JP took heat and killed that off. We are building a base, but it was left uncultivated for so long that we are behind and also could be part of the reason why we sucked for so long. We were showing kids locker rooms that were worse than some High Schools almost. There was no flash. We need to find a way to drive up donations another 5 MM and NIL the same amount.Others have said this in previous threads, Iowa State's irrelevance (putting it nicely) in football during the 80's & 90's had a profound impact in lack of fanbase growth/casual fan growth. Pure speculation on my part, a large part of the die-hard fans today had parents who likely supported ISU through those tumultuous times and those fans/kids now still leverage those parents for tickets/parking etc...
We've had phenomenal growth in Athletics over the previous 10-15 years, which I think has brought Iowa State to the middle of the road in college athletics, fanbase $ support-wise. Wish it had occurred sooner, but now is our chance to keep Iowa State growing.
The legal issues with NIL aren’t exactly being enforced but they are in place. Sparty does more with NIL then Michigan and it really isn’t that much. Harbaugh specifically had stated over and over that attending Michigan is supposed to be a transformational instead of transactional experience. It’s part of the reason why Michigan’s recruiting isn’t great compared to the results they have gotten on the field the last 2 years.NIL has legal limits in Michigan correct? I also know several Illinois folks that said they couldn't get into their U of I so they went to Iowa and it was still cheaper.Filling your institution with out of state tuition students while still begging for the large grant from the state was simply pushing up that revenue. Iowa tried to sneakily do this with AIB for tax reasons and it pissed off the Regents. We need to annex Drake and Des Moines University to become Iowa State University at Des Moines - ISUDM
OSU yeah, Michigan really hasn’t since getting slapped down for the fab 5 situationMichigan and Ohio State have been buying players for years, regardless of NIL.
We need more doctor and lawyer grads.
Albaugh? We need one of our engineering techno geniuses to make billions and then decide he/she wants to be TBoone or Phil Knight....

If the one person is right that WW NIL is around 500k, ouch. I dislike NIL severely. I just donated and it wasn't much, but still better than not giving at all I feel.
We are finally getting them to that level on the Cyclone club and now we need to get them there on NIL. We are hurting in our catch up but need to keep working hard to do our best to get there.Agreed. Severely lacking the number of donors in that middle-area, think $4k-10k/year. Iowa State's path forward is probably growing that particular group (acquiring a few additional transformational donors would also help), sheer numbers game right now.
Albaugh?
