Hiring Kevin Jackson was the worst thing the wrestling program did. Bringing back the block I singlets was one of the best moves ever!
It's hard to imagine him being able to use the Jayhawk Conference as a minor league from Ames the way he did at K-State. I think he would have done okay in Ames but I don't know that he would have had a HOF career.I think Snyder would have been an interesting hire.
But as an ISU fan or administrator, if Fry is recommending something and said it's good for you, it's probably a trick. There's no way I'd think he would do anything nice for us.
I gotta disagree with this one. While he jilted us and I hate him passionately. Chiz brought money to the program.Gene Chizik
None. Getting rid of Hamm’s beer song. What do you think are the worst changes within or around the various programs? Parking, game-day traditions, cutting programs, etc?
Personally;
1 - Not using running Cy enough.
2 - Getting rid of the blimp in Hilton.
3 - Getting rid of the Helmet mobile at FB games.
4 - Plan to get rid of half the big parking between Hilton and JTS (BB parking is going to suck ass).
Wearing black in football
Not making hockey an NCAA sport.

Malls are dying and this sounds like a glorified mall but without the metro area to support it. Then when you add that Ames has campustown, downtown Ames, and even the somerset area you got a lot of options for a smallish city to support.Shhh, we’re labeled haters if we say that. I fully agree though.
Decent sales on basketball days and that’s even questionable since most of the time people are already struggling to get there after work before tip off.
It’s not a destination place (ie concert venue) and not enough casual traffic during weeknights and summer to make it profitable, let alone a financial driver of any sort. Places with many times the realistic traffic barely survive.
Could be wrong, would be happy to be, but seems like a high risk, low reward gamble.
People didn’t have the strategy stone-cold for that yet.Chose to play at the south end.
Then Wyoming selected defense.

I agree. I think if he stayed for year 3, that team still goes to a bowl game like they did during Rhoads' first year. Chiz' heart clearly wasn't here in Ames, but he wasn't a bad coach, and honestly was a pretty solid recruiter. Notice how the program started to die once Chiz's recruits left the program.I will die on the hill that the Chizik hire was not really that bad
Fairly steady. Wasn't in ACC until mid-'50s. 1960s had a lot of conference titles and deep tournament runs.Hasn't Duke been like pretty much consistently good since like 1940.
Sounds like a sequel to "Hot Tub Time Machine."hot tub Jack Trice
I kind of agree in retrospect. Obviously the results were poor with Eugene, but he brought in some good recruiting classes, Jack Trice was pretty full & there was excitement around the program, and he left before he did any long-term damage. Could have been a lot worse.I gotta disagree with this one. While he jilted us and I hate him passionately. Chiz brought money to the program.
In the moment, it was actually seen as an above average hire and a lot of national pundits really liked it.
There should have been huge red flags on a potential culture fit though. It was definitely a roll of the dice and how it was handled is actually one of the few blemishes on JP (one example being the ludicrous coin).
