I skimmed through some highlights and condensed game footage of Jeremiah Williams and see a very good on-ball defender. Help defense showed flashes, but he had a tendency to stand flatfooted and ball watch. Maybe that's how he got his nice steal & block numbers, but that's just speculation. On offense, I saw him making simple reads & good passes while in their spread sets. He's respectably fast and strong with the dribble too. Don't recall much P&R action with him, but that could be a product of the footage I found.
Perhaps he would be someone to fit Gabes role, and also be a stronger secondary ball handler to play alongside Hunter. Or takeover initiating the offense like Gabe did on some short occasions this year.
Oh, and I noticed a little bit of a comparison to another Big12 player.
Looking at his previous year's stats, would you have wanted him on the 2021-22 Iowa State roster?
Here are the per game averages for that other Big12 player's 2020-21 year and Jeremiah's 2021-22 .
G | GS | MP | FG | FGA | FG% | 3P | 3PA | 3P% | FT | FTA | FT% | ORB | DRB | TRB | AST | STL | BLK | TOV | PF | PTS |

Kevin McCullar's 2020-21 year with Texas Tech is the first row, Jeremiah Williams's 2021-22 is the second row.
Obviously I'm just some dude on a message board, and I'm not saying that Jeremiah Williams would instantly be a homerun signing. It's officially the off-season, so I'm just having some fun with looking at what next year might look like.
The point is this - Until the way that games are refereed changes, especially in the Big12, we're going to target strong, defensive guards whether they are knockdown shooters or not.
