My theory is that it is what Fox wants to see. More inventory, more reasonable time slots for some PAC 12 games. Seems like it could be a message to the PAC 12 if any programs are dragging their feet.

I'm not holding my breath for a settlement. Two things are at work here. One is the likelihood that most if not all the Big 12 schools are going to end up in an inferior position. Who would be in a hurry to take a pay cut? No one. Their position is too strong to settle unless they get almost everything they're owed. They have to maximize revenues because most have debt to service.

The other is that none of the schools move the needle enough to be attractive to either another conference or a broadcaster to write the check necessary to speed things up. They may take some or most of the schools if they're nudged by Fox or whomever, but they're not going to race out and do it. And if they can sit back for a couple of years and let OU/UT/SEC/ESPN fund it instead, they'll gladly do so.
