Rule #1: never bet on a team you have any emotional tie to.

The converse to this is also true:
Rule #2: Feel free to bet against teams you have an emotional tie to. Its called a hedge. Team wins = happy. Team loses = not quite as unhappy since made money. And, the bigger the game, the more you should feel free to bet as the bigger the win, the more money you don't mind losing. And the bigger the loss, the more money it takes to make it not hurt as bad.

Classic Hok argument talking SOS vs. ISU without a clue. RoseBowl should look at how many NCAA tourney teams ISU and Iowa played last year. Oh yeah, and the Hoks get a bonus one by playing ISU.

ISU played 13 NCAA teams (Include 2 games in Big12 tourney)
Iowa played 13 NCAA teams (Include 1 game in BIG tourney)

And yet their schedule was still one spot higher on SOS than ISU's grueling Big12 gauntlet......

Not saying that ISU had a hard schedule. Just saying don't act like you had such a tough schedule since you're in the big 10. If you actually look at the schedule, it wasn't.

Iowa's game is over, Iowa pulls off the comeback in OT. Watched the whole game. Xavier is not a good team. And neither is Iowa. First time I've watched Iowa all season, so this could have just been an off game for them, but I was so very unimpressed with them. I think Niang, Ejim and Kane will have huge games.

The only real area of concern for me, is if we get in foul trouble. The end of that game turned into a free throw shooting contest. That's the only reason Iowa really came back (after Marble's good playing cutting the deficit). They were hitting their FT's and Xavier didn't.

Agreed. Why did the Fran thread get deleted?

Iowa's not getting those touchy fouls in Hilton. Clones should/will win by double digits.

Agreed. I wasn't terribly worried about Iowa to begin with but after watching this game, I think we could blow this one open in the first half like we have done in the previous two Iowa games at Hilton.

Iowa looked absolutely terrible. I've felt pretty strongly that I didn't think it was a team that was going to be worth a **** and after watching them it's hard for me to not say that they looked worse than I expected.

We won't blow it open in the first half.
No matter what, it'll have some ugliness to it. I don't see an Iowa win in Hilton by any means, and I think double-digit victory is likely, but a hard fought double-digit victory.

We'll know that it was a game, just a game where one team can't shoot.

Iowa plays their game well. Honestly I think their zone will give us trouble. Transition offense will be important. Offensively they are not intimidating, unless they force fouls. That said, game is still two weeks+ away. A lot can happen between now and that game. Hope the hawks win tomorrow and get blown out by Kansas.

That team lacks athleticism and lacks shooters.

ISU by 10+. I also dont think it turns out to be a very good win for us either. They are going to lose to most athletic teams that can run the floor. slow, boring, clown hair, and constantly throwing up bricks.

Marble is the one bright spot. stop him or he has an off night and you'll blow them out

Xavier coach should be fired. kidding..but seriously it took him the entire game to realize that in order to defeat Iowa's 3/4 trap press you NEVER dribble into the trap to the sideline past half court. They did this almost the entire second half. You ALWAYS throw the ball to a post (NIANG) in the middle past half court. DUH. So frustrating watching that awful game. If Xavier had an ounce of an outside shooting threat Iowa would have gotten blown out and also if Marble didn't have a career night. Rest of Iowa's team was terrible. Hope they play KU cause KU will destroy them and that press. Bill Self will make that press look like Div.3 baskeball. If I were Fred...not that he needs my advice but I would play the zone D we've been playing spying on Marble with Hogue and you shut down Iowa. Kane will abuse Gessell. Niang will have Woodbury fouled out at half.

Interesting takes......I am impressed they found a way to win against a decent team when they (Iowa) obviously weren't playing very well. It's going to be a tough game in Ames, don't fool yourselves.

I really don't think Iowa played that poorly... Marble had his best game of the season by far. Their three point shooting was at about the norm for them. They were competitive on the boards and didn't have a lot of turnovers. Iowa simply doesn't have very many offensively skilled players and that is a recipe for disaster when playing in Hilton.
