I don't like the fact that Iowa will have already played 11 games when they meet us. We will have only played 7. Advantage Iowa.

Lol. OK. Doesn't matter at this point.

If anything its the fact our first team hasn't played together much *** they are usually sitting with ten minutes left due to the score.

You mean an FCS football team or a mid major basketball team? It's ridiculous to say playing another power conference team is a lose/lose situation

Yet many fans feel that way. Go to LSU's board right now. Many of them saying they'd rather play Michigan, or Nebraska (we beat both).....as playing Iowa is a lose/lose.

I personally don't feel it is lose/lose to play ISU. I don't really like playing ISU, but that is cause I don't like hearing about it if Iowa loses.....I'm sure many ISU fans feel the same way.

Every fan base has idiots...I'd assume LSU has more than most teams

Agreed. Still wish we didn't even play this game. It's a lose/lose situation for us

You are off your rocker, CyTwins. I don't believe your later qualification that you truly didn't mean this.

This game should be played every year. It is exciting for the fans, increases program notoriety, and it's a power conference - usually quality - non-conference game. We usually don't have many quality non-conference games so we need this one every year. This year is unusual of late - although I hope it becomes the norm - in that we've actually played some big-time programs outside of a tournament (BYU, Michigan, Auburn).

Plus, if the Clones win in Iowa City it's always a win-win!

I was laying the sarcasm on pretty thick...playing any ranked team at Hilton is a great thing since I always expect to win in Ames

This is the point some seem to be missing.

Of course this game feels more like a lose-lose for us this year... because it's at Hilton. Turn the tables and put the game at CHA, and it's an opportunity for a great road win for the Cyclones, but a loss isn't that big of a deal because it's expected.

My concern for this game has turned into when Kane is out and who is bringing the ball up while he is on the bench. Iowa will press harder when MM is in.

I think we will be fine. Iowa isn't very quick, I think you will see Niang lead the break when Kane is out if Morris shows any signs he's uncomfortable out there. I really think Monte will be fine. He's a smart passer and that's all you need to break Iowa press.

Morris did not look comfortable down the stretch against byu, with a near turnover also in the backcourt trying to get it to Niang.

Iowa is ranked #1 in Sagarin Rankings

And ISU #7.

Not sure what makes Iowa so highly ranked by Sagarin and Kenpom, but if I had to guess I would say FT shooting. They also get a lot of shots at the hoop and have been ok from 3 this year. Not sure if the 3 point shooting will hold, especially on the road vs ISU. And the FT shooting will hopefully be minimized by the fact it is at Hilton and we can get the benefit of the doubt when players run to the basket with no intention of scoring, but just want to draw a foul.

It helps that Iowa has played 10 games..

I think Sagarin (and maybe Kenpom too) this early in the year uses "returning scoring" as one input. So, Iowa would benefit greatly because they returned a great deal of their scoring from last year.

I could be way off, but I thought I read that somewhere. To me that's pretty pointless and shouldn't really matter, as this is a totally new year.
