My sister was a very successful RN manager before her pain was so limiting she had to "retire" in her early 50s. She is one of the toughest persons I've ever known. Dad was a marine, I ran a marathon weighing 275. She makes us look like wimps.

She has been learning all she can about Fibro. It reminds me of ADHD, and depression. People that don't have it think, just don't be so distracted, cheer up, toughen up. Everybody deals with distraction, the blues, or pain. But when you have these conditions it's not so simple as quit whining. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are many bad diagnosis when it comes to these conditions as there isn't something you can do to fix it.

I hear ya. Good news was there weren't any polyps, signs of disease, or damage, but damn I was hoping for some kind of useful feedback if it cost me $1000 and an evening of drinking an enema.

I think my biggest gripe is that it was a surprise bill. I was younger and very naive about how our healthcare system operates. That said, I can't but feel that it is insane that hospitals and clinics don't provide an estimate of your bill prior to services being rendered. What other industries operate that way?
Did you ask how much it would cost before the test? Curious to see if they misled you or not. Usually when people ask they are told how much a procedure will cost vs what insurance will pay. A lot of people never even ask but I do know plenty that stop care once they find out the expense.

Yes I asked. Never got an answer as they had to "work through my insurance and get back to me".

Tbf, the colonoscopy was only a week or two after the initial clinic visit. So it was kind of a quick turnaround.
Week or two is more then enough time unless it was a holiday season. I wonder if it just didn’t get approved by insurance or what was really going on there. A lot of people don’t realize how insurance companies actually make most of the non emergent decisions in health care.

Sorry for reviving this one. Does anyone know someone who uses CBD for their fibromyalgia symptoms? Does it work?

My wife has suffered from the symptoms associated with Fibromyalgia for a decade now. Visits with doctors predominantly result in "she's in perfect health." Which is clearly not the case. As I write, she's been laid up in bed for two days. It breaks my heart.

Those of you who may have RFK Jr's exit speech yesterday should be astounded by the statistics associated with the crash of American health; this topic included. They're so staggering it defies logic of why it isn't more aggressively addressed. I encourage you to listen to it. It can only benefit everyone.

Those younger than 40 can't yet begin to empathize with the ramifications of what they consume and their lifestyle. But those of us, post 40 'increasingly' are learning the consequences of our younger lifestyle. I, for one, was naive to this despite my father's better mentoring. Sure, when I was pre-40 I ran 5 miles daily, ate what I considered healthy (which post analysis was anything but), and thought I had my stuff together. But between 42 and 62, cancer, pulmonary embolisms, gall bladder removal, shingles, pneumonia, heart arrhythmia, graves disease, and pills pills pills. My wife eats insanely well and since she's been in my life, I've stabilized and have recently started jogging again. But her illness persists with little to no recognition or respect.

Please respect those with pain. We're all so different. Why would anyone belittle anyone else in pain? Please don't.

I certainly don't want to cave this.

[political paragraph]

If you don’t want it to be political, why not just remove the middle paragraph. I just don’t see how talking about your political beliefs and to listen to a political speech isn’t “political.”

Which brings me to where I hope some of you won't be offended. I left my party beliefs this past year when I researched RFK Jr. Those of you who may have heard his exit speech yesterday should be astounded by the statistics associated with the crash of American health. They're so staggering it defies logic of why it isn't more aggressively addressed. I encourage you to listen to it. It can only benefit everyone. This is NOT a political issue. This is a real issue with everyone's health. Trust me!

Citing RFK Jr. does not help your post. There should be legitimate medical professionals you can cite to make your point, and if you can't find that then maybe that's a sign.

Thanks. Good point. I edited the thread so as not to bring 'politics' into it, but rather to cite the source of the information regarding the growing epidemic in this country.
